Fight!

Crime, like this one, is disgusting.

Imagine, you are that little girl, working her first shift, how excited she would be about her first job. Then imagine the pain she felt as the knife stabbed her, again, and again. Think about a paper cut, then magnify that 800%. Think about this little 17 year old child, who got stabbed to death, for what? A few dollars? Some smokes? What?

The parents of a teen aged girl stabbed to death at a Montreal gas station have criticized the sentencing of a man connected to their daughter's murder.

Brigitte Serre was just 17 when she was killed on her first overnight shift working alone at the gas bar, in January 2006.

Tommy Gagne, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, forcible confinement and armed robbery. Another individual has also been charged in Serre's death but has yet to face trial.


I guess that the parents can be thankful that the thug didn't RAPE their daughter before they stabbed her to death.

See the blade of the knife coming towards you? Duck, fend it off with your arms. Fight! Imagine the pain of being stabbed, fight, don't give up.

On Wednesday, Gagne received a life sentence with a chance of parole in 10 years.

Serre's mother, Anna Lisa Ripelle, was furious at the sentence and said Gagne deserved far worse.

"He deserved life, or even -- sorry -- the electric chair," she said. "It's way too short. He's taken a life and she could have lived to 70 or 80. She wanted to bring some good into this world, to help children."


Fight, even though you are just a little girl, on her first job, fight that guy who is bigger and more powerful then you, fight.

Oh, sorry, you were too weak to fight three guys. Fight. Two inside and one in a car outside, now they are sorry?

Can you see the blade of the knife coming at you, did you put your hand up to stop it? Did they care that they were hurting you, killing you? Stabbing you to death?

Do they feel any remorse? How could they stab a young girl to death and only get 10 years? This of course will be reduced to good behaviour and he will be out in 3 years. Is this fair? NO! Fight!

As Canadians we have a fight on our hands, we have to fight the judges, who allow teens to get house arrest for murdering a teen by hitting him with golf clubs.

We have to fight the judges who allow sexual predators back out on the streets, to prey on our babies.

The judges claim that the "Charter of Rights" allows them to let murderers out on our streets, they even pay them when our system is too slow, $2000 for some biker scum. Our judges need to have the criminals they release stay in their homes, under house arrest. Fight, little girl, don't look at that knife. The judges won't, they refuse to actually look at crime scene photos, so they never saw you, dead, in a pool of blood, can you smell that blood? Does the judge care that you had your whole life ahead of you? Fight!

Oh, sorry, the judge just sided with the criminal. Sorry little girl, I can't imagine the terror, the pain, but you should feel better because your killer, apologized. Problem is, he's still alive, and you are dead. Did it hurt when he stabbed you to death? Fight!

Dill Pickles And Pasta Sauce!

Okay, still in the long weekend mode, so, for you non-Ukrainian people who love dill pickles, here is the recipe passed down from my great-great Baba. These pickles are easy to make, and last about a year.

Dill Pickles

14 cups water (make sure it isn't soft water)
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup pickling salt

Sterilize jars, by putting top down into boiling water, then put one garlic clove, some dill, 1/2 tsp of pickling spices, and one dried red pepper into each jar, stuff with cukes, then fill with solution above. Seal, cool, and in about 2 weeks, enjoy!

We went to our local farmers market, could not believe the prices of fresh produce. One little bag of cukes was $3, it would make one jar of pickles. Highway robbery! Thank goodness I grow my own.

Got too many tomatoes to eat? Frost threatening to bring your green tomatoes inside? Perfect solution: Pasta Sauce.

I rarely have vine ripened tomatoes, usually frost makes me bring them inside while they are still green. So, I put them in beer flats, cover them with brown paper, and they ripen, usually all at once! What to do with 50 pounds of ripe Roma (Italian)tomatoes? Easy!

Cut tomatoes in half, get rid of seeds, place cut side down on cookie sheet liberally coated with olive oil. Throw big chunks of onion, garlic, oregano, green pepper, and anything else you want on top of tomatoes, roast in oven until soft, even burnt looking, cool, then blend. Put into sandwich size ziplock bags, freeze.

The roasted flavour is unbelievable, and makes the best pasta sauce you can imagine.

"World's Largest Pig Roast"


If the Conservatives had done this, the opposition would have been SCREAMING for an apology and yet, because the Liberals did it, it's okay?

Let me give you a list of why this is NOT funny:

1. Shows torture.
2. Disrespects the Prime Minister, big time.
3. Calls the Prime Minister of our country a pig.
4. Has the leader of the opposition Dion, turning the spit, torturing the PM.
5. Has a pig basting the PM, implying that pigs are better than our PM.
6. "World's Largest Pig Roast", calling all Conservatives pigs, or calling our PM a big pig.
7. "See Harper's Conservatives go up in flames", so more torture coming?
8. Burning of Conservatives, like they burnt witches, way back in the unenlightened days?

I could go on, add to my list if you are as disgusted by this as I am. Oh, by the way I showed my husband this "cartoon" and he wanted proof that I wasn't just getting this from another blogger, (THANKS Steve, this needs more exposure) so I showed him, this:

Harper has broken trust of Canadians, says Dion

I didn't make this up! I'm not allowed to! The Conservatives hold their caucus meeting and ask for some privacy, they get slammed for days by the press. The Liberals hold their caucus meeting and get rave reviews, only CTV dares to show this despicable apron. Why? Well the media thinks it's funny, they see nothing wrong with it! There is no bias in the media, there is no bias in the media, there is no bias....

Young Criminals GET Punishment Act!

Well, well, it appears the Conservative message is breaking through, into the light! We need to get tough on youth commiting violent crimes, all it took was a former politicians' son to get stabbed and another old lady to get beaten by youth thugs!

N.S. Premier wants teens gone wild corralled

HALIFAX — A 15-year-old girl stared blankly at the courtroom floor Wednesday as the Crown recounted how she allegedly beat a senior citizen with metal table legs in what appears to be a random, yet violent attack.

The young girl, who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, sat stone-faced as Crown attorney Bob Nisbet described how she and two other teens allegedly chased the 66-year-old woman on a dark city walkway, saying nothing as they repeatedly struck her.

“It was a meaningless bit of violence,” Mr. Nisbet said in court as the accused, a baby-faced teen with long, dark hair, fiddled with her hands and glimpsed occasionally at her mother. “She received numerous blows.”


Nice, randomly beat up an old lady with metal table legs. Now, I bet they just found those table legs, and were just carrying them to a dumpster, when they thought some rapist was attacking them, so they beat him up. They were shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you when they realized it was really an old lady they had mistaken for a rapist.

That's their story, and they are sticking to it, or some such tale that the bleeding heart judge will buy, and let them out on house arrest, AGAIN!

What is ironic is that now, we hear this:

The bail hearings come just as Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald urged Ottawa to toughen Canada's Youth Criminal Justice Act in the wake of a spree of brutal attacks by young people.

Where have you been, Rodbaby? Yapping about the Atlantic Accord, instead of looking after your province, and now you want the Feds to listen to you?

Well, I'm sure the Feds, will have something about the Youth Criminal Justice Act, in the works, if you remember the Conservatives have always been the party of law and order.

Just the name itself, youth criminal justice act, sounds like you get youths who are criminal, and they get to decide what justice they think should be metted out to their victims, then they act, like killing a rival drug dealer, beating an old lady, don't worry about punishment, not going to happen with our courts.

Maybe the Conservatives should bring in a "Young Criminals GET Punishment Act", there that fixes it. Now let's see some teeth put back into law and order, and most especially our courts!

Oh, and just to lighten things up a bit! Someone at Canoe, thinks the C-17 is Sexy!!

The gigantic, 200-tonne bird of steel is sexpected to have an effect on Canadian troop confidence as they continue to battle with Taliban insurgents, Maisonneuve said in a short interview shortly after landing.

"This plane will have a positive impact on the morale of the troops. Speaking with my colleagues, I can tell you that everyone is happy to know that we have modern tools at our disposal and a better (transport) capacity than before," he said.


Well, sexpected to have an effect on the troops, might not be the effect the military wants from troops away from home for months regarding a plane.

The Desperate Know No Borders!

Alberta complains about being screwed by the Feds. Newfoundland complains about being screwed by the Feds. Quebec complains about being screwed by the Feds. There comes a time when Canadians have got to stop naval gazing, and start opening their eyes to what is going on in other nations.
We are learning more about Afghanistan, but what about those people in Africa that also need our help?

Look, my Dad is 80, but I wouldn't trust him to rule a country.

What bothers me is that the media is more interested in Dion meeting with Williams, than what is really happening to real people in our world. Why wouldn't the media be on this story? Are they just so Liberal that they can't tell Canadians about the sad state Africa is in, or is it because their GOD Trudeau really liked Mugabe? Like he loved Castro and any other dictator he could meet.

Dated but worth the reading. "We started treating them as enemies of our government and the enemies of our people... and so we shall continue," he said.

So, where are the lefties? Are they protesting about this? NO. All is quiet on the African front.

Who Has The Power?

This has been an interesting two weeks. I had a multifamily garage sale, made $600, but that isn't the interesting point. Our back alley was all chewed up by the huge garbage/recycling trucks that come down the alley. We now get two trucks, one for garbage, the other for recycled material, this means 4 trips down our alley. We had a huge hole in our alley, that was taking out our cars left and right, so I put a big sign out to warn people coming to our garage sale, and who showed up? One of our city counsellors, who promised to get it fixed. Which I have to admit, he did, just one week later, our alley was fixed, so thanks.

Then today we got a candidate who wants to be our new counsellor show up at our door. His big qualification for the job is that he forced University students to pay for a bus pass, whether they used the bus or not, kind of like the Liberal plan to make all people pay for a universal daycare, whether they use daycare or not. He's not getting my vote.

Here is the problem we face as voters, a city representative does not have to declare whether they are Liberal, Conservative, Green or NDP, but once elected their mindset dictates how they vote.

We have three levels of government, federal, provincial and municipal. Both the federal and provincial candidates have to declare what party they support, not so the municipal candidates. Yet they are the ones who get our roads cleared, get our potholes fixed, their impact on our everyday live is greater than the federal MP's, so why don't we know what party they are aligned with? This guy was NDP, through and through, just reading his brochure tells me that, yet we ignore the municipal politicians, we should not, they are the ones with all the power over our quality of life.

Support The Troops, Not The Mission? BS

Okay, I'm sick and tired of the lefties mantra, "I support the troops, but not the mission". BS! This gives me a headache, because it's not possible to do both.

First of all, how many people really know what our troops are trained to do? Do they understand that they have guns, and know how to use them, to you know, kill the enemy? They have tanks, grenades, bombs, and other useful tools that they use to help them survive, while killing terrorists. This I suspect is the problem for lefties, our troops are trained to do a job, very few of us would be willing to do ourselves.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics all help people. Let a police officer actually use their guns when under attack, the lefties shout "police brutality", and the criminal becomes the victim. That's how their brains work, violence by anyone is wrong, even if it's someone like our troops who are protecting the very freedoms that we hold dear. Don't even get me started about our liberal judges, they disgust me.

Should we pull all police off our streets, because some of them have gotten killed this year? How about firefighters, maybe they shouldn't go into fires anymore, some of them have been killed this year too.

Go over to the G&M, if you can stand it, the comments there give a good idea of how lefties think, they are going to wear black on Fridays, because wearing red to support our troops is too American. BS, they are upset because Canadians ARE shouting them down just by wearing red on Fridays and putting stickers on their cars. How they must hate seeing those stickers. How they must cringe when they actually see a real soldier. Remember the "Troops in our cities" Liberal ad, that was approved, but was never "officially" released, that's their mind set. Troops bad. Period!

So, forgive me if the "I support the troops but not the mission" crap, gets called what it is, BULLSHIT!

Lefties Killing Van Doos!



These are Afghan children who escaped the Taliban and had to live in refugee camps.

You can bet the Taliban have heard about Quebec's lack of support for our troops. You can bet that they are going to be out to get them, because the lefties have "cut and run" on all of our troops, not just the Van Doos.

Another two of our brave soldiers have paid the ultimate price, my condolences to the families. I blame the lefties, from the Mayor of Calgary, who won't even allow decals supporting the troops, to the opposition leaders who are so intent on winning votes, that they have forgotten the fact that these are real Canadians, fighting a real enemy.

Both parties say they "support the troops", but neither does, and that's just sad. The Liberals are now so left of center that they won't even vote for a mission that they started! Who does Dion OWE for his leadership? I don't really care, what I care about is the fact that the defeatist attitude of the opposition, is putting our troops in more harm. That ticks me off.

Let's send Dion and Layton to Afghanistan so they can see first hand the great job our troops are doing. They should go while the crops of poppy are being harvested, a very dangerous time for not only our troops, but for Afghan kids coming home from school.

Life is cheap to lefties, even when an election is years away. As a Mother of two kids, I am so glad that we live in Canada, I can't imagine how the Afghanistan Mom's can live with the fear of losing a child. After you have carried a child in your womb for nine months, that child becomes your life, your reason for living, every Mom will tell you that, but, because these are Afghan children, they don't mean as much as Canadian children? Hogwash! It appears that the lefties don't care, not for our soldiers, and not for the Afghan people.


The Conservatives want to win the female vote, here's the way. Bring the focus onto the Afghan children, show us Mom's how they are living and what our country is doing to improve their lives. It's not enough to say more females are in school, show us some pictures, I can guarantee that any Mom, anywhere will support the party that is helping those babies. Look at how beautiful they are, nobody should live in fear, especially not children!

Lefties spout about supporting the helpless, but I guess when it comes right down to it, the hopeless are their supporters.

All About Jelly Beans, Not Water!

Okay I watched most of the news conference today. I have to admit that PM Harper, was really funny when he talked about two standards for jelly beans. Poor opposition, they are yapping about water, and it turns out it was all about jelly beans!

If you didn't catch all the fun, you can find it at CTV. Go to the videos on the right (HA) and get the whole media scrum, not just the sound bites during the news hours.

I have to give CTV two thumbs up for their coverage compared to CBC, not that either was worthy of watching, just that CTV provides the whole media scrum (or is that media scum?)on their internet site.

What is really sad is that NDP MP, Peter Julian actually appeared more sensible than Dion, now that is truly scary! Watch both segments and see if you agree. Both are still wrong, but Dion appears to try and make everyone think PM Harper is Bush lite, or at least I think that's what he said. Dion is no politician, he's in way over his head, and if you watch the clip, you will see a certain arrogance that he displays, smug little grins, that signal he thinks he is better than us. He might score some points on PM Harper, if we could understand him, but oh well, it was the Liberals who made him their leader, they have to live with him, not us.

Last comment, I noticed that President Bush, called PM Harper, Stephen this time, not Steve.

Protesters Gassed, DUHHHH!

Hello, protesters, did you think you could burn the American flag, and throw rocks at police, and NOT get gassed?

Dumb people, let's march to the gates, oh, police are there, let's antagonize them with our dogs, burning the American flag and let's just be a$$holes, that will make our cause look like a good one to support. Let's mask our faces because our company might realize what idiots they are employing. Ah, forget that one, most Canadians were busy working, the only ones able to protest are welfare bums. Sick, sad people, they didn't even know what they were protesting.

Good job Quebec police, thanks for keeping the idiots away from our leaders. Thanks for making sure that the leaders of Mexico, Canada, and the US were safe. Can you imagine the embarrassment if one idiot had pelted a leader of another country with a rock? The media is already yapping about rubber bullets being shot at the protesters, I say, that's what they deserve.

The sadist thing for the protesters is that watching the news coverage, I had NO clue what they were protesting. All I saw were masked protesters burning an American flag.

What really ticked me off, was someone making a dog bark and threaten the police. This person obviously has no balls, and they put their dog in danger of being shot, as the dog was a clear danger to the police. But I suspect that's what the dog handler wanted, to get his dog killed, so he could make a big deal about it. What a bottom feeder.

Protest Or Prosper?

Okay I watched Maude Barlow, that's one silly lady! What struck me is her organization is called "Council of Canadians" NOT "Council for Canadians", that kind of says it all doesn't it? So, what do they do FOR Canadians? It appears that they organize a rally, that attracks at most 500 people, to protest what?

That's the problem, they don't even know what they are protesting. Most popular complaint I've heard from the lefties is that they won't have microphones at the meeting, therefore they are secretly plotting the take over of.............?? Our water? Oil? Oh, you fill in the blank, because I really have no clue what they want, and I suspect even if they got what they wanted (if they knew what they were protesting)they wouldn't be happy.

Shhhhh, the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), is secret. Behind closed doors, they are plotting the takeover of Canada. The real problem is that about 20 high powered CEO's from some of the biggest companies are invited, and the protest groups aren't. That must frost their britches, actual productive people can meet with the PM and Presidents, but not the lefty hords. Saw some NDP MP whining, listen buddy, if your party ever gets into power, then you too can make some decisions about the direction our country should take, but until that happens, shut-up!

The way these lefties talk, PM Harper should consult Parliament if he wants to take a ...................walk. HA!

Get it into your heads lefties, the Conservatives are the government, and they do not have to ask you for permission to run this country. If you and your special interests groups don't like it, bring this government down, it's in your power. Just what I thought, chickens.

Oh, and that bulk water agrument, well it was used years ago when Free Trade was being debated, it didn't work then, it won't work now.

Do I want a trucking corridor from Canada to Mexico, where all the rules are the same? Yup. It's sad that it's more likely that 3 countries will agree before our own provinces will. So, protest or prosper, get out of our way Maudie and your little band of capitalist haters, because I prefer to prosper!

My Grandma always told me to avoid a boy with no lips, I wasn't sure what she ment until until now. She told me a guy with no upper lip was weak. So who has no upper lip ladies?


Okay I didn't nitty pick and find a "bad" photo of Dion, seriously, he has no lips, look at every photo you see of him, no upper lip! Granny was one smart lady!

What is Layton covering up, maybe a weak upper lip? No lip, no trust.

So, ladies, who has the lips you might want to kiss? Bet Dion is last on your list, he is on mine.

Trivial crap you say? Nope, that means you don't understand women, a guy with no upper lip, has no balls. My Granny understood that all those years ago, so do I.

Garage Sales, A Canadian Institution? NOT

Have been having a garage sale the last two days, one to go! Have made about $500 so far, we had a lot of junk other people wanted! Thank goodness, after tomorrow I will be able to park my car in the garage during the winter, no more scrapping windows in 30 below!

My most interesting observations are about the people who have wondered through our garage in the last two days. It's like a mini UN. All shapes, all sizes, all religions, all languages, all looking for a bargain.

My take for those who are looking to have a garage sale soon? They are a lot of fun, and you can't categorize people, such as all Chinese will bargain, some do, some don't. We had three Muslim women who bought about $70 worth of stuff and didn't haggle once. Then we had one Chinese gentleman, who wanted everything for less than half price, the next Chinese couple paid full price for everything.

Rule number 1, is don't assume!

Rule number 2, if you think you will never sell it, it will be the first thing sold! Get real junk out there, I sold a half used air freshener!

Rule number 3, let them bargain, you don't want it and they do. Get it out of your house, and into someone else's, then it's their problem. Our hamster cage is now taking up space, but not in my house!

Rule number 4, have fun, and get your neighbours involved.

Rule number 5, after 1, it's time for a drink, you will make more sales and have more fun doing it!

Rules 6 to 10, refer to rule number 5, and repeat!

Our new neighbours had never seen a garage sale, they have only been in Canada for a year, they bought an air hockey game and a scooter, and couldn't believe that this was allowed by the government, for only an $18 permit. I expect to be going to their garage sale next year!

Garage sales, a Canadian institution, I think NOT, everybody loves them, no matter what ethnic background!

BARKING Up The Wrong Tree!

The law clearly states that guide dogs can NOT be refused service, or entrance to any business, well last time I checked, a cab company is a business.

I foster guide dogs. My first guide dog in training is still the love of my life.

His name is Pride, and he is a seeing eye dog for a wonderful person, who's life has been improved immensely by this dog.

Our second guide dog in training ended up being one of the most awesome assistance dogs you have ever seen.

Her name is Aspen, and she helps her human by picking up dropped items, opening doors, and listening for fire alarms, as she is also a hearing dog. She's one serious dog, until she's not working, then she's pretty nutty.

Here, she is stalking the baskets I was getting ready to plant. Such a smart dog, I had just brought the baskets in from the garage, and I think she was looking for mice. Yikes!

My point is that these dogs improve peoples lives, religion has nothing to do with what they do, although they both went to Church with me, I don't think they understood the sermons, slept through them mostly. (The dogs, not me!!)

The cabbies that won't allow these wonderful dogs in their office (cabs) are BARKING up the wrong tree if they think they can break the law because of their religion.

VANCOUVER - A blind man denied service from a Muslim taxi driver for "religious reasons" has been awarded $2,500, the result of a B.C. Human Rights Tribunal discrimination settlement reached on Friday and made public yesterday.

Bruce Gilmour estimates that Vancouver taxi drivers have passed him over "a hundred times, maybe 150 times" since he acquired his first guide dog in 1984. But an incident one evening last year with North Shore Taxi Ltd. was "the straw that broke the camel's back."


Mess with my dogs, you mess with me, my business will go elsewhere, and I will protest loudly.

Who do we protect, the disabled and their special dogs, or Muslims because "maybe" their religion tells them dogs are unclean. Easy choice for me.

Opposition Hungry!

Hungry for any news coverage they can get, it's been a long dry summer for the lefties. Dion's ratings as best PM, have gone up because no one has seen him all summer, not a good thing, because once Parliament gets back into gear, he can't hide anymore.

I always gauge what the public is thinking politically by my husband, who might vote Conservative (I will send my youngest son in as a spy next election). If he is reacting to the political news, I pay attention.

This summer our big argument has been about global warming, he has heard from his work buddies that the Gore movie is good, I told him to rent both a "A Very Convenient Untruth" and "The Great Global Warming Swindle" so we could both form our own opinions. Okay, maybe my opinion is already set, but his isn't. He could not find the Great Global Warming Swindle to rent, and I refused to watch only one side, so the issue has been stalled.

Meanwhile, our MP dropped by our neighbourhood block party, what a wonderful surprise! He knew that only about 30 people would be there, but he still made the time to drop by, you can bet that all people there will vote for him next election. What those 30 people will do is talk to their co-workers about how nice he is, how approachable, how much like them he is, so take those 30 people, and start to multiply that by everyone they talk to, and you have maybe 200 to 300 people voting for him, not bad for one very personal appearance, to one small gathering. One smart politician, good for him!

So, the opposition was singing the same old tune yesterday, they didn't like the cabinet changes, because, well, uhmmm, well, no lefties got into cabinet. Dion was especially stupid, he hated the changes before they had even been announced, just like the budget, duh. Dion the supposedly great intellectual, is a dud. At University we always shrugged at the art majors, they were the bottom feeders, not able to get into engineering or business, they took sociology courses. We took sociology courses to help raise our grade points, because without even attending you could get a 7 or 8, while the core courses we were taking took hours of labs or research. Dion got his PHd in France, lived with his girlfriend/now wife there for years, wonder why he came back here?

Layton was on Duffy spouting off about nothing, but looking well put together. He's so phony, it's actually sad. Is he still living in subsidized housing?

Dawn Black and Coderre, what a pair of idiots spouting their lines, Conservatives bad, lefties good. Hezbollah Coderre is too funny, called PM Harper, the President, kind of like Williams, the Screamer, calling him Steve, both whiners, both should be given more air time, they only help the Conservatives.

Opposition hungry, yup, but it's making them look and sound stupid, but that's fine with me. That's my politically uninterested husbands opinion too.

Same Game, Same Players

Liberal Senator Lavigne, still a Senator, facing fraud charges, you won't find this on CBC or CTV, but I managed to track down one article:

The RCMP announced Tuesday that it has laid charges of fraud over $5,000, breach of trust and obstruction of justice. Lavigne is due to appear in court Sept. 18.

Allegations of misconduct were first raised in 2005, when neighbours complained that one of Lavigne's office staff had cut down trees on their property. That discovery led to assertions that Lavigne had ordered the staffer to carry out personal business unrelated to Senate duties, and that Lavigne himself had misappropriated Senate funds for his own use.


SHHH, don't tell anyone, it's just one more Liberal screwing the taxpayer, not a big deal, and hey they kicked him out of caucus, but not the Liberal party, so what does that say about Liberals? Same game, same players!

Abolish Tribunals

As a human being, I have rights, but I don't have the right to be falsely accused, and hauled in front of a tribunal, that smacks of witch hunts. So, who will protect me?

Maybe the Human Rights Tribunal, as they state: The purpose of the Canadian Human Rights Act is to protect individuals from discrimination. It states that all Canadians have the right to equality, equal opportunity, fair treatment, and an environment free of discrimination. The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) applies these principles to cases that are referred to it by the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC). The Tribunal is similar to a court of law, but is less formal and only hears cases relating to discrimination.

Only hears cases relating to discrimination, well that sounds wonderful, but just the use of the name Tribunal, makes me smell something burning.

So, let's look at the definition of tribunal:

tri·bu·nal (tr-bynl, tr-)
n.
1. Law
a. A seat or court of justice.
b. The bench on which a judge or other presiding officer sits in court.
2. A committee or board appointed to adjudicate in a particular matter.
3. Something that has the power to determine or judge: the tribunal of public opinion.


It's number 3 that creates a problem for me. "the tribunal of public opinion". This is a dangerous power for any group to be given.

At the same time, the candid citizen must confess that if the policy of the government, upon vital questions affecting the whole people, is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made, in ordinary litigation between parties in personal actions, the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their government into the hands of that eminent tribunal.

Conservative Women, Tougher and Smarter

Big Globe and Mail article on the Cabinet shuffle, all about females.

As Prime Minister Stephen Harper prepares for a cabinet shuffle next week, he faces a gender-balancing challenge: Two jobs at risk belong to women and his party already suffers a gender gap with voters.

What ever happened to the most qualified gets the job? In a lefty world, the single Mom of two kids, who is in a wheelchair, and is an immigrant, should get whatever job she applies for, even if she isn't qualified for it.

Why don't more females try to be MP's? BIG one; you have to leave your babies for Ottawa. My babies are 14 and 11, I still would not leave them for weeks, sorry, they need their Mom, everyday, not just on weekends.

Liberals constantly spew the line about females not voting Conservative, I bet lots of them voted Conservative last election because of the $100 a month for each child under 6.

Let's look at two female politicians, Debra Grey and Belinda Stronach. I was at a rally recently for PM Harper, Debra Grey was there, she got lots of cheers, people still love her, she is one tough cookie. Standing waiting for PM Harper to appear, I started talking to a lady with a walker, this was another tough lady, had her babies at home with no help, bought the home while her husband was working.

So, let's compare Grey to Stronach. Debra fought hard and won the first Reform seat.
Grey was appointed interim leader of the Alliance and Leader of the Opposition. She was the first female Leader of the Opposition in Canadian history. Funny how the Conservatives have had the first female PM and the first female Leader of the Opposition, but supposedly females don't support the party.

Then there is Belinda, as a Conservative, I don't want to disrespect her, but as a female, I personally think she is an example of what females should not be, ever. She is the perfect example of how females are promoted for who they are, not what they can do. Money bought Belinda's spot as a MP, and later as a Minister, but where is she now, she QUIT, ran back to Daddy.

Belinda, more than even Hedy Fry, gave female MP's a bad name. She is a shining example of why females don't vote for other females.

So, in a battle between Debra and Belinda, my hard earned money would be on Debra, she did more to advance female politicians in Canada than Belinda could ever hope to do.

True Conservative women are stronger, smarter and way less wishy washy. We know our own minds, we do not have to be told by anyone how to think.

Stand Up For Your Ministers PM Harper!

The media is trying to run the government, so far, PM Harper hasn't bought into their hysterics. I don't think he should now either.

Nearly half of Canadians think the Harper government lacks a clear agenda, a new poll suggests.

Or, nearly half of Canadians aren't even thinking about politics at this time of the year. I know, I'm not that interested right now, and I'm a political junkie!

The poll also indicated that only 36 per cent of respondents felt Prime Minister Stephen Harper needs to shuffle his cabinet - something sources say he is set to do next week.

Of those who did favour a shuffle, 11 per cent suggested a new environment minister is needed, nine per cent wanted a new face at defence, eight per cent suggested a new face at health, and six per cent want a new finance minister.

What this clearly indicates is that the media campaign against certain Ministers, isn't working. Only 36% thinks a shuffle is necessary, that means that 64% want NO shuffle, meaning that most people are happy with the Ministers! Of those 36% only 9% want a new defence Minister.......shouldn't that be like 80% want a new defence Minister, given how the media and opposition have been pounding on him? Yet 11% want a new environment Minister? Hold it, don't they know that there is a new environment Minister? Hasn't the media hammered on Gordon O'Connor as defence Minister, for close to a year, are people not listening to the media and the opposition parties? Don't people know that they should want a new defence Minister, not a new environment Minister? Get with the program people.

Here's my advice to PM Harper, leave O'Connor where he is, as a matter of fact, don't shuffle anyone, let them learn their portfolios, they will be more effective that way.

O'Connor is doing a better job than any defence Minister previously, he's tough, and doesn't take any BS from anyone, I love when the opposition asks some long contrived question, and he just gets up and says NO, and sits back down. He's what we need at defence right now.

PM Harper, don't get sucked into doing what the media wants, they will only gloat, and gain more power if you listen to them and the opposition. It's time to stand up for your Ministers, and against the opposition and media.

The Boom is off the Patch

As everyone knows Alberta is booming. Well actually, the boom is off the patch, things are quieting down, which isn't a bad thing. Quiet here in Alberta is still pretty hectic. Albertans aren't worried, the oil is still there, and heck, maybe we can get some of them there equalization payments, you thunk?

Lefties like to refer to us as rednecks, and we are supposed to be insulted. Do the lefties even know that a red-neck comes from working hard in the sun all day? Feeding people is a noble career, I wish I wasn't stuck in a city, my deepest desire is to start a "pick your own" vegetable farm. But liberals scoff at farmers, as the ruling last week shows, western farmers are not to be given the same freedoms as eastern farmers, discrimination I think.

I see the trucks and trains bringing goods to us and sending our goods on their way, and every time I do, I think of Ayn Rand's, Atlas Shrugged. When I first read it over 20 years ago, I thought it was a great fiction, with some hints of truth, now, I think it is very truthful, with hints of fiction. That's what liberals have done to our society, they praise the unproductive artist, and denigrate the productive farmer.

Personally, it makes me sick.

It makes me worry about my children's future, will the trucks and trains stop? Will the liberal values of sex (of any kind, swinger clubs come to mind), drugs, and as I get older, euthanasia, win out over conservative values of family, community, tough crime measures, and love of country?

Canadians have to get out of the cities and get back to their colonial roots. A deep love of country, with a big boost of common sense, added to pride of ownership, gives us a true Canadian, but liberals don't want that, they want sheep.

If you haven't read Atlas Shrugged, I highly recommend it, as you are reading it, substitute our political party leaders for characters in the book, it might open your eyes.

What really got me thinking about this was coming home from holidays, there had been a mudslide near Golden, and as we drove through, I could see parts of the highway dropping off, it was scary, and I told all my family not to go that way until the new road was opened. Atlas Shrugged, a train stuck in a tunnel in the mountains.

Crumbling roads, bridges falling, while special interest groups get millions of dollars, this is the Liberal legacy, this is Atlas Shrugged coming true. I suggest all like minded people come west, I feel that we are the last hope.

Read Atlas Shrugged, see who you identify with, who is your hero? Is the west the last hope, or are easterners going to wake up? For the sake of my country, I hope common sense prevails.

The boom is off the patch, because the lefties have made climate change a false issue.

"GET 'ER DONE"

Okay, for the last two weeks, I've barely talked to my family, my plants are wilting, cucumbers need to be pickled before they get too big to fit in the jar, my boys are eating junk food, and most disturbing, they are starting to call their Dad, Mom. Things are just not right.

They know where to find me, I'm on my computer, scouring Statistics Canada for needed material, to finish that last chapter of my book. Two weeks of getting up at 8:00 in the morning and working mainly without stop until 1:00 or 2:00 o'clock in the morning for royalties of $3,000 a year? I'M I NUTS!!!!!!!!

One chapter to go, deadline August 7th, birthday August 8th. You bet I'm going to "GET 'ER DONE", and if my publisher even dares to call me on my birthday to ask for edits, well, I'm too polite to actually tell him where to put the book, but I will think it.

Okay, breaks over, back to the demon edits. Hope to be back to normal on August 8th!

Third Best Front Yard In All Of Edmonton!


My neighbour won third place in the "Front Yards in Bloom" contest, that's a huge accomplishment! My husband and I went to the presentation tonight, to offer moral support, that's one of the great things about the contest, you get to know your neighbourhood and the people in it better. Everyone walking by stops, and comments, and I have noticed more homeowners in the area making an effort to plant some flowers.

If you missed the other pictures, guess what? I have more!!



Best part of the evening was that my neighbour's daughter drive down from Fort McMurray and surprised her Mom!



I think her son is happy that she won't be nominated again for a few years, so he won't have to be over every 3 days to mow the lawn.

Congratulations Neighbours!!! All that hard work really paid off!

BS Liberal Judge!

If I am so ticked off with this ruling, I can't imagine how our farmers feel! I will applaud them if they stop all traffic on the QE2 until Premier Stelmach brings in emergency legislation that allows farmers to sell to whoever they want to, without fear of being thrown in jail! The Canadian Wheat Board is a non-natural monopoly, it is a dinosaur. We got rid of the phone monopoly, the gas monopoly, and even the food monopoly (Safeway, years ago)here in Edmonton, next the CWB.

Federal Court Judge Dolores Hansen said the government overstepped its authority in trying to end the monopoly through a simple cabinet order.

The decision is a victory for supporters of the wheat board, who argue that having all barley sales handled through the board gives farmers better prices.


Judge Judy, oops Dolores, might be out of her depth with this ruling. But never mind, if no farmers sell their barley or wheat to the CWB, what can happen? More Canadian farmers thrown in jail? What power do farmers have? They have the power to shut down our roads, trains and ports by simply not sending any product from their farms to the CWB. Maybe the meat producers can join in the fun.

Heck, let's all start growing corn, forget wheat and barley, corn prices are sky rocketing because of bio-fuels. Alberta can grow corn just as easily as wheat, or does the CWB have a monopoly on corn too?

This monopoly should have been declared illegal, not propped up by a judge, who obviously ignored the will of farmers to market their own product (they had a FREE vote), or she should have made all farmers in Canada sell their product to the CWB, not just western farmers. Did Dolores, nope. She made sure that western farmers were put in their place, and made them second class citizens again. Thanks to Trudeau, we have no property rights, and judges like this one can dictate how we live.

Makes me want to separate, we can start fresh, no Liberal Senate, no federal government picking my pocket to send the money to have not provinces, no CWB telling us we have to sell to them, but Ontario farmers don't have the same rules, no Liberal judges letting murderers free, no one coming to take my guns (okay I don't have any, but the issue is individual freedom), no more SSM, no more abortion at 40 weeks, no universal every child in daycare money sucking pit, no more bleating lefties who want the government to support them for life. (Okay, I know it's just a dream, but dang this ruling has ticked me off big time.)

Farmers, unite, protest, get those tractors onto major roads, if the First Nations can do it without being arrested, you can too. Take your wheat across the border, sell it to the highest bidder, get arrested and make big noise about it. Why can Ontario farmers sell to anyone they want, but western farmers are FORCED to sell to the CWB? Audit their books, what they haven't shreaded.

I hate anything that is un-democratic, this ruling might have been made in Russia, not Canada. Shame on judge Dolores.

Cue The Crickets!

Okay, I know Layton wants us to negotiate with the Taliban, here's his chance to show us how it's done. Come on Jack, fly over there and get those hostages released. Where are Layton and Dion, they should be on TV telling us that we should get out of Afghanistan, NOW! If it's too dangerous for medical workers, it must be too dangerous for our troops.

Where's Dion? Where's Layton? The Useless Bloq? Why aren't they marching in parades to free the hostages? Where have all the lefties gone? Listen, you can here the crickets!

Why is it okay for Liberal Coderre to march with the Hezbollah, but no-one is marching for our Korean friends? Is it because they are Christians? Are the lefties blaming the Christians for getting themselves into a position to be killed? Yes, some are, read the comments with the G&M article I posted. Here's some examples:

G&M Poll, Gone Wrong!

As taxpayers we already support the CBC to the tune of $1 BILLION a year. On top of that, Shaw, and now Telus have to give money to keep CBC alive.

Understand that, we pay Shaw, who then sends money to the CRTC, who then gives it to the CBC. So, we give to the CBC at least twice.

Well, here's a poll that shows how sick and tired we are of this double dipping.

I'm really excited because someone I know has been nominated as one of the six best yards in Edmonton! Here are some pictures of her yard, even though pictures can't capture the real work that has gone into her yard, they give you an idea of how much work she has done to get into the top six!





Not a weed to be seen! The side of her house is great too.

Everyone Needs A Holiday!

Okay, back, tanned and relaxed! Had no access to a computer, and enjoyed the break, for a short time it was nice, but boy am I out of touch with what went on last week.

So, here's some pictures of what I was up to:



A deer right in my sister's yard, eating the apricots! Since the fire in Kelowna, the deer have moved into peoples yards to survive, and noone is kicking them out, the deer will move back into the wilderness when everything has grown back, but until then, they are welcome even to the apricots, after all, you can only make so much apricot jam.

Next, go-carts, you can't go on vacation and not race around a track pretending you are in the Indy 500.



Yup, every golf course has that one little par 3 over water, I actually made it across the water, but my ball is below those pink petunias.



No matter how many times we go through the Rockies, I am just awed at the majestic mountains, around every corner is a more beautiful sight. We were lucky that they had cleared up the mudslide at Golden, so there were no delays.

One final picture of the Rockies, near Banff. Notice that clear blue sky, no pollution. Notice all those trees, turning CO2 into oxygen. Miles and miles, upon miles (okay kilometers)of trees, no factories, just wide open nature, mostly untouched by humans.


Tired from the 10 hour drive, will catch up with things after a good sleep. All in all, a very rewarding holiday, but it's always good to get back home, and sleep in your own bed.

Going Golfing!

Yahoo, it's holiday time! That wonderful time when you step out of your everyday world, and do all the stuff you wanted to do all winter, but it was too cold to do, like swim in a lake.

So, I'm going to swim in Lake Okanagon, hopefully the Ogopogo will appear. I'm going to pick cherries, go on a wine tour or two, and soak up the rays.

I'm going to forget about mortgages, bills and global warming. I'm going to forget that I have to come back to work, raising kids, and blogging.

Only sour spot is that my boys want me to go horseback riding, last time we did that my horse bounced me around so bad that my butt was sore for days, maybe I will try to get them to do some white water rafting instead. Oh, what am I thinking, that's even worse! Okay, golf is nice and safe, it's relaxing, and you don't have to get a beast four times bigger than you to obey.

Got my swimsuit, sunscreen, and golf clubs, going to have some fine times, and will be back soon. Enjoy your summer!

Vandoos Are Not Cowards!

The sounds of children crying, spouses and parents sobbing could be heard throughout the vast hall where 200 soldiers from the Valcartier military base gathered for their departure to Afghanistan.

They are the first contingent from a group of 2,500 mostly Quebec-based soldiers, many from the famed Royal 22nd Regiment, or Vandoos, being deployed for their Afghan tour of duty at a time when the mission has become increasingly unpopular among Quebeckers.


Hold it right there! The same thing happens every time our troops ship out, what makes the Vandoos special?

I have been to Quebec, they are an arrogant and ignorant (they wouldn't accept an American Express travellers cheque, because they had no clue what it was, and don't even try any high school French to make them understand what you want)people, with a serious "me" problem, so it's not hard to believe that they won't support any troops from their province going into danger. I feel sorry for those troops from Quebec, they are getting no support, but they deserve it just as much as the Edmonton based Patricia Pats. Add Layton into the mix, and watch the Taliban target these troops. What a heavy burden the Quebecois have placed on their own troops, they go into battle knowing that the people in their own province don't support what they are doing. Shame Quebec.

I know the Vandoos want to pull their weight in Afghanistan, just like all the other troops have been doing, so Quebeckers can snivel all they want, but I'm sure the Vandoos will make all of Canada proud! If Quebec can't take it, if they won't show their support and respect for their own troops, I hope they know that the rest of Canada, will support them, and cheer for their success.

The Vandoos are not cowards, only Quebeckers.

Lefties Are Sickies!

I know the NDP guy who ran to win a seat as an MPP last election, his kid was in school with mine, that kid is not allowed in my house anymore, because I caught him stealing some money. I feel sorry for the kid, he's a nice kid, but he is out roaming the streets at all hours, he's an accident just waiting to happen, he's a kid drug dealers will latch onto, and I worry my kids will be impacted by this kid who is allowed to roam free.

His father, has no clue where his kid is, and he could care less what he is doing, it's only the fact that we have a safe neighbourhood that keeps that kid from being a drug dealer. The father is a bottom feeder, his wife does all the work managing an apartment building, he sits around drinking coffee, spouting off about how he will solve all of Canada's problems, and sucks up taxpayers money because he got injured on a job.

So, look carefully at the person you are voting for, don't just vote for a party, make sure you know who should get your vote.

I volunteer to take in guide dogs in training, I have seen people who really need our help, but bottom feeders like this guy are taking money the really disabled should get. The real misfits are the ones who run for the NDP, supposedly the party of the people, but the ones I have met are more interested in getting the most out of taxpayers for their own benefit than they are in actually helping the real needful! Case in point, this Lefty thought there was oil in Afghanistan, and that was why we were there. Sad really, but that is the caliber of talent the NDP attracts, and lately the Liberals don't seem to be doing any better, but when someone like Hedy Fry keeps getting elected, you have to wonder how smart the average voter really is, and why voters are so disengaged from the whole process.

Just as the Conservatives have made the military relevent again, maybe they can make voting relevent again.

Thank Goodness For Basements!

Okay, I'm hiding in my basement because here in Alberta very few people actually have air conditioned homes, so quit slagging us, as being big energy pigs. Hello Toronto, how many of you are sitting in your air conditioned apartments/homes blogging about how bad the oil sands are! Nice thing is that even at 32C today, it was a dry heat. In other words, we actually weren't sweating like pigs, and you can shower here, and actually feel refreshed! Oh, and the skies were blue, and clear, no smog here.

I was talking to my neighbour today as she was frantically trying to water all her plants, we are both hoping to place/win in the "Front Yards In Bloom" contest in Edmonton, she was heading for her basement. I actually hope she wins, her yard is outstanding! Okay, secretly, I hope I win something too!



Back to heat and energy...

My last car actually had air conditioning, I used it once or twice. My new car has air conditioning and we preferred to just roll the windows down today and enjoy the breeze, and the heat.

All winter we stay in the basement, and fire up the gas fireplace, waiting for the summer to come, now in the summer we stay in the basement, and try to keep cool.

Thank goodness for basements!

Four Year Old Sexually Abused, Mother Gets House Arrest!

Okay I've had it with house arrests for murderers because they are young offenders. I have had it with house arrests for Mothers who allow their children to be sexually abused.

Acton found she had systematically assaulted her daughter by repeatedly hitting and slapping her.

Acton also convicted the woman of common assault in relation to two incidents in which she punched her child on the leg and slapped her so hard the girl fell to the ground.

The woman's former boyfriend, Darcy Don Bannert, 25, has been found guilty on nine of 11 charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. He will be sentenced July 31.

Acton found that Bannert sexually assaulted the little girl, shackled her to furniture "for his own amusement" and unlawfully confined her in the basement.

Acton said the young mother has already been substantially punished and will suffer for the rest of her life.


This is a four year old baby that was sexually assaulted, and because the Mother came from an abusive background, she gets house arrest? What about that little four year old baby?

Disgusting ruling, disgusting Mother! The Mother should be shackled to a bed in a cell for the 2 years, see how she likes it. The one who has been substantially punished is a little 4 year old girl.

9 Point Lead by Conservatives!

It seems Layton is popular in Montreal, okay but when you read the actual article, they contort the statistics so badly that you would actually think the Conservatives were in trouble, not the Liberals.

In Quebec, the Bloc was at 31 per cent, down a healthy 11 percentage points from its level of support in the January 2006 federal election. The Liberals were pegged at 17 per cent in Quebec, down three from the last Environics poll conducted in March, while the Tories sat at 28 per cent, up two percentage points from the last poll and 3 points higher than they scored in the election. The NDP nudged up to 12 per cent from 11 in the last poll and the Green Party moved up 2 percentage points to 11 in Quebec. The undecided rate was pegged at 10 per cent.

Okay, it's not clear from the article, but here are the results:

Bloc 31%
Cons 28%
Libs 17%
NDP 12%
Greens 11%

But, the article headline is "Layton on a roll"??? How about the Bloc tanking (11% down)? Or Conservatives grabbing Liberal voters? Wow the NDP is at 12%, yup up 1%, that's a huge roll, NOT!

Standings were as follows: Conservatives, 37 per cent; Liberals, 28; NDP, 17; Greens, 11 and Bloc Quebecois slipping to 7 per cent.

Okay, in a survey with 2,021 Canadians across the country for a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points 95 times out of 100, in other words twice as big as normal for a survey, the Conservatives are 9 points ahead of the Liberals, but still they yak about the Conservatives not being above the 40% level for a majority. Well, more interesting is that the Liberals are below 30%. Ouch, that has to hurt, and with Dion as their leader, I don't see it getting any better for the Liberals.

A 9% lead during the summer, is huge, but SHHH, don't tell the media, they will only shrill even harder for the Liberals, OH wait, they already do! They can't shrill much harder, and still try to appear non-partisan, that 9% must burn their butts, because I have not heard the survey results reported by either CBC or CTV, not even a whisper. Funny, if the Liberals were at 37% we would be hearing about it every 15 minutes. No bias in our media, nope.

Slush Breakers!

Funny, I had to really dig that link out of CTV, usually a story will stay on the site for at least two days, but this one disappeared overnight.

Overall, Fife said the plan is a step in the right direction, because any patrols will mean improved defence in the region.

"Right now we have no capability whatsoever to assert our sovereignty in the Arctic," he said.

"The coast guard is not able to go up into the areas where the new vessels will go, and we have long-range aircraft that rarely goes up to that part of the Arctic to do any surveillance."

Huebert echoed Fife's approval -- he said if Harper keeps his commitment, he'll be the first Canadian leader to address the pressing issue.

"The fact that we're actually getting to the stage where we might be spending money on defending the arctic is ... of a magnitude that I just simply haven't seen before," Huebert said.

"Traditionally, we've seen all Canadian parties saying yes, this is important -- until they're actually asked to put money forward ... the fact that Harper actually raised this as an election issue is probably the first time I heard (of it) since Diefenbaker."


I watched the announcement, and heard Milewski state: how do you justify the wide gap between what you promised and what you delivered, 2 Billion short and not the 3 ice breakers you promised, only slush breakers, why did you cop out? (delivered from memory, not a direct quote, but you can listen to the link I have provided.) His tone was very aggressive, positively dripping with sarcasm, total disrespect for the Prime Minister.

Then watching Global News, hours later, their reporter said some people were already calling the ships, slush breakers. Global made it seem that some expert had called them slush breakers, when in fact, it was CBC reporter Milewski. So, the media is creating the news, not reporting it!

It's very dangerous when reporters are quoting other reporters, and stating it as fact. What, are we living in China now, where all news is created, not reported? Shame on CTV, and shame on CBC and Global, report the news, don't try to make it.

Watch who uses this phrase, "slush breakers", it's an indication of their intelligence, sort of like monkeys throwing darts, they don't know why they are doing it, but heck, everyone else is, so follow the crowd.

Stop making the news, start reporting it instead, it would probably raise viewer ratings if it was ever to happen!

Interesting, when I first started watching the results 65% were against, the final result was 56%, and remember this is the very Liberal Globe, so the results are interesting.

CTV also had a poll:

Should the feds decriminalize simple possession of marijuana?


Yes 5946 votes (61 %)

No 3864 votes (39 %)


Total Votes: 9810

Not as many votes, and the same Liberal crowd. Now the CTV poll is still on going so results might change yet.

No matter what the final poll results on either poll, I have some questions for those who voted to decriminalize pot.

Can we have bars that serve pot if it becomes legal?
Will we have combo liqour/pot bars?
How about liquor/pot/smoking bars?
Will pot smokers be allowed to smoke indoors or will they have to stand outside in the cold like smokers?
If you can have a pot bar, can you then have a smokers bar?
If I do not want to get high from second hand pot smoke, can I lobby government so that no-one can smoke pot in public areas, including parks and public patios?

Okay, I have many more questions about how it would all work, but the very people who are yelling about smokers should be against legalizing pot, but where are they? Sitting in a corner, high on pot I guess, cause they sure aren't out there protesting.

I think the legalize pot people, have created a huge problem for themselves, because they are also the same people who want to ban smoking, a perfectly legal substance.

RCMP Get Their Men.

I wasn't expecting this, but it's good news, just short on details.

RCMP charge two in Mayerthorpe officer murders

The RCMP have charged two Alberta men with first-degree murder in connection with the 2005 shooting deaths of four Mounties.

The two accused are Dennis Keegan Rodney Chesman, 23, and and Shawn William Hennesey, 28. Both men are from Barrhead, Alta. They will appear in provincial court there on July 12, which is Thursday.

RCMP Deputy Commissioner Bill Sweeney said the two men are charged with being a party to the offence in what he called the "darkest day in RCMP history."

According to the Criminal Code, a person can be a party to an offence if they do something, either by omission or commission, to assist someone else commit an offence. Alternatively, if some people join in common cause and one of them commits an offence, the others are a party if they "knew or ought to have known that the commission of the offence would be a probable consequence of carrying out the common purpose."


I bet those 2 thought they were home free by now. I am still saddened by the murder of our 4 Mounties, hopefully the families will be able to get some closure.

Garage Sales, Got To Love Them!


Okay while hubby and bro were taking out the old furnace and putting in the new one, us girls went garage sailing. We sailed from 10 to 4, I got lots of baskets for next years flowers, it's funny how every garage sale has at least one basket I can buy for 50 cents. Like the one above, get a basket, fill it with soil, plant some plants, and you get a beautiful outdoor vase!

The best buy of the day was my neighbours, who came with us, she got a $400 jogging baby stroller, for $35!!! (No the baby doesn't jog, but how else do you describe it?)

So, I'm down $30, but I'm up 15 baskets, one antique lamp, a pre-50's camera, one elephant, and best of all a never used pasta maker! Lot's of loot for $30.

I also got a 1940 Singer sewing machine for $75, my hubby wasn't sure it was a good buy, until he saw it, it works and even has the operating manual.

I few weeks ago I got an old LP/radio for $2, it's worth way more than that because it still works, but that's not the reason I bought it, I bought it because I liked it, that's what's most important.

So, all you garage sale junkies already know what I'm talking about, the rest, well, your missing out on really good junk! Garage sales, you got to love them!!

Okay, I Bought Into The Global Warming Thing!

Yup, I got myself a new 92% energy efficient furnace, and thanks to my brother, it's only going to cost me $800, and all the beer he can drink.

Conservatives are NOT supposed to want to save our environment, that's supposedly the Dion thingy, but contrary to media opinion, and, should the media have an opinion, or just report the news, conservatives, have the word conserve in their name, should tell you something.

Us big bad polluting Albertans, are more interested in gopher shooting with our high powered rifles than saving the planet, but wait, it's Edmonton's recycling plant one of the best in the country?

The centre is especially famous for the Edmonton Composting Facility, the destination of Edmonton's residential waste and one of the largest composting facilities in the world.

Is this a Liberal? I know it's dated, but interesting.

"TransAlta's Vision Quest is to be congratulated for having the foresight and leadership to enter the new energy era," said the Honourable Anne McLellan, Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre. "This facility reflects the desire of Albertans and all Canadians to protect our environment, address climate change and lead the world in the development and use of renewable energy technologies."

I protect my environment by recycling, composting, and using no chemicals. So, when my kids want a carrot, they just go into the garden, pick one, and wash it in the rain barrel. How sweet is that!

I must have bought into the global warming thing because I bought a more efficient furnace, sorry but it doesn't mean I believe in global warming, just that I believe in lower gas bills.

If I could have a little windmill powering all the gadgets I need, great, problem is, have you seen the size of those wind turbines? They are huge!!!!

So, a newer furnace, does not make me a global warming cheerleader, just a smart homeowner. Got to run, wonderful thunderstorm I need to watch!

'clarion call'

I am so disgusted with the opposition, what a lack of class both Dion and Layton have shown, using the murder of 6 of our troops for crass political announcements.

Thankfully, the military called them on it, asking for a 'clarion call'.

So, what is a clarion call?

An old kind of trumpet with a shrill sound, used to call men to arms, etc.
Example: a clarion call


Used to call men to arms. Used to call Canadians to arms, to support our troops, to let the families of our newest fallen know that we grieve with them, that we are sending prayers out daily to all our troops.

"I would encourage all of you that at this point in time, that the focus must be on repatriating these valiant soldiers and ensuring their families hear a clarion call of love and support from Canada," said Col. Jon Vance.


"The families are well aware that there is debate on this mission. Nonetheless, at this particular point in time, the most sensitive and, I think, mature approach, would be to show them ... love and support. These soldiers died in a mission that they believed in, and saw progress occurring."


Can it be any clearer? Can Dion and Layton, not stop being political long enough to hear the clarion call? Are they so politically motivated that they will use the deaths of 6 more of our valiant troops as a political weapon?

Ask The Troops!

I am so sad about the loss of 6 more Canadian troops, my heart aches for those troops and especially their families, a very sad day, for all Canadians.

I want Layton to shut his mouth, he is doing more damage with everything he spouts out of his mouth. I just want to shout at him to SHUT THE F(*& UP!!! Does he think this is going to win him votes? I might vote for him if he would actually go over to Afghanistan and talk to the Taliban.

I grew up in an army town, Wainwright, never did I worry about getting attacked by our troops, but I worry that our politicians are so wimpy that they will stop all of the good work our troops are doing.

Layton is disgusting, he claims to "support our troops", but everything he does and says shows us what a hypocrite he and his whole party really are.

Dion, because of pressure from some of his radical MP's killed a bill that his own party and the Supreme judges supported, why? They helped him get elected. So now he is a bat boy, not a leader. He has bowed down to the extreme elements once, what would happen if he actually formed the government, this is too scary to even contemplate.

The Bloq is useless.

So, I ask Canadians, to ask the troops. They are in every small town and big city, they are the ones risking their lives, if they want to stay, stay we should! Don't let politicians make this decision, let the troops speak! Ask the troops!

Comments Are Like Manna!

I try to blog everyday, hoping for someone to comment, give some feedback, let me know that I am reaching someone, on some level. Comments are like manna, it's why people blog.

I will often read a blog, agree or disagree totally, but don't comment. Why not? I'm just not that interested in the subject matter, or I agree, nod my head, and move on. So, in order for someone to comment on a blog, you have to have hit a nerve, made someone think about an issue, and get them to respond. Whether they agree or not, your thoughts have provoked a response, every comment is like a jewel, to be read, and taken into consideration, to be mauled over.

If you only have 30 readers a day, tops, why continue to blog? I ask myself that all the time, but then you get that one comment that makes you think about your position on an issue, or verifies your position, and that's all it takes to continue blogging. It's like golf, you get that one absolutely beautiful drive, and you come back for more, because you know next game, you will get better. (I'm hoping to break 120 this year.) It's kind of like when you send your resume out to 50 companies, and get 4 responses, those 4 are gold!

So, thanks to all those people reading blogs, for actually taking the time to comment on issues you care about, it matters.

Babies Win!

It's not just a win for pro-life, it's a win for honesty, truth, and common sense. The facebook competition was interesting in that the pro-abortion crowd mobilized all their people, and still came up short.

The power of this win is that the wish wasn't just abolish abortion after 20, or 22 weeks, it was a clear statement to abolish abortion, full stop, period!

Why is it a win for honesty? Because people have to stop hiding behind phrases like "a women's choice" and honestly face the fact that babies die.

Why is it a win for truth? Because people must face the truth of the issue, babies are torn apart, and disposed of like garbage.

Why is it a win for common sense? Because people voted for life and not against it, those people had the sense to understand that this is an issue that must be taken out of the backrooms and brought into the light of day.

So, one small step forward, much more work still to be done. Most importantly this win should open the eyes of Canadians who actually think that we have a law against abortion. We don't, a 38 week baby can be killed, if the mother decides to do so. What mother or I should say non-mother could carry a baby to near term, and then kill it? Did she not hear the heartbeat? Did she not feel those tiny little butterfly movements of the baby? Did she not wake up because her baby had kicked her a good one?

God had to be smiling over this win, for babies, not choice! Babies win!
