PC's Get It Wrong.

Okay, being an Albertan I should blog about the leadership review for Stelmach. I don't care. I'm still mad that the Liberals and NDP helped elect the guy. Now they whine and complain that he isn't very good. Suck it up, you got him elected.

Doug in Calgary
I am with Mike on this. I have always voted PC but come next election I will vote Wild Rose as along as Ed is in. It may be 1 less vote for the PC's but at least it's my vote. One also must remember, at the PC convention, Ed was put in by a small group of people as the leader of the PC's, it was not all of Alberta that got to vote on that leader. If our voting was different here, Ed surely would not be still in office.

Hello Doug, only Conservatives should vote for the leader of the Conservative party. That didn't happen, because lefties signed up to the Conservative party and voted against a real Conservative, Ted Morton. That's why Conservatives voted for Stelmach last election. Too pay back all the Liberals and NDP voters for interfering in OUR election of a leader, and sticking us with Stelmach.

Next election is a whole different story. Wildrose is a promising alternative. I wait to see their policies or are they going to be like the federal Liberals, and save it for an election? Time will tell. My vote is up for grabs. I have not seen my MLA since he got elected. From what I have seen of him, he is a real dud, maybe I should run against him. That could be a real hoot. My campaign slogan would be, "Don't go Lefty, go WILD!" HA. I should copyright that slogan. Bet Gayle would vote for me.

SQ, you were not here for the leadership race that elected Ed, but if you were, you would have bought a membership and voted ED. Yes, they come in off the street to do that. He was not elected by conservatives.
Would iffy be leader if one could walk in any polling station, buy a membership and vote.
The PCs made a lot of money off those instant members. Now we all have to live with it. But, he is still better than Swan or Mason and always will be.

Who set up the rules for the leadership race, maryT? I assume it was the PC's. What you are saying is that they are more in love with their money than their ideology. I am shocked! Shocked I tell you!

And that's the lefties fault.

The leadership of the PCP is the only real exercise in democracy in this province. It goes without saying he or she will be premier. People who are not conservatives want a say in who that person will be.

Besides, Stelmach is struggling because he is dealing with the results of Klein's total mismanagement of our economy. Klein was more interested in using tax dollars for his own personal use that he was in running our province. I bet he misses taking that private plane to go fishing.

The format of the PC leadership race turned out to be a huge mistake. Hopefully, the CPC will take note, and learn a valuable lesson. My suggestion is that, when we vote on a successor to Harper, that only CPC members who have been members for the previous three years, be allowed to vote.

The usual suspects will howl in protest, and spin it as negatively as possible, but I say, "F*** 'em !". Selecting the leader who is best at selling memberships is hugely dangerous. Best to let our leadership candidates focus on policy, vision, and stuff like that. Plus, they won't need to raise as much money. And we absolutely DO NOT want our enemies easily buying CPC memberships so as to screw us.

Stelmach is the poster-boy for why Parties have to be very very careful in how they set up their leadership races.

Whachoo talkin bout Hunter? The WAP has had their policy on their website since the last AGM. Just click the button that says "Our Policies" http://www.wildrosealliance.ca/

Right you are Hunter.
Except it wasn't so much against Morton,
as it was keeping Liberal Jim Dinning OUT!

NOTHING rallies Albertans like a Paul Martin Liberal back dooring into Alberta via faux PC candidate:

In case you don't remember Jim Dinning,
the front runner in the PC race (because Libs and Dippers bought up memberships)

Liberals always get excited when they are actually allowed to vote for a leader,
even if it's not their party!!!

It's the only time they get to practice at using their democratic right!

I wonder why we never hear moaning about a fifth column of right wing extremists infiltrating the Liberals convention and voting Dion into first place and Iggy into second?

Maybe because we're not paranoid?

Or maybe the CPC operatives were too busy with the anti-semitic stuff about Bob Rae's wife.

I'd hardly call Gerard Kennedy a right wing extremists....
but what ever turns your crank liberal supporter!

Rae didn't win because NO WAY he could hold Ontario...Rae Days and all,
Iffy didn't wing because he is more right winged than Harper,
Dion won because Kenndy moved his 3rd place group to the Dion camp rather than either Rae or Iffy.

But of course, it's Harper's fault!

Nice sidestep of the antisemitism stealth campaign at the 2006 Liberal convention.

Still, now do you see how silly you sound moaning about "In case you don't remember Jim Dinning,
the front runner in the PC race (because Libs and Dippers bought up memberships)"
