So, I'm Wondering.......

Where have all the weekly polls gone? Shouldn't all the polling companies be out in force, asking about the green shift? I'm curious, aren't they? Or are the results not being published? Call me skeptical, but the silence is deafening.

The latest poll numbers I could find were from Ipsos. Shows a tie. Funny how you can't access the actual data. Nik on the Numbers, hasn't done a poll on how we would vote, since April? You remember, his firm was the most accurate during the election, but now looking at his site, he pontificates with few numbers to back him up.

Check out his latest article, not one single number, not one. Excuse me, but don't you do surveys to find out public opinion, with some numbers?

Then we have Decima, did they forget Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba again? Just asking because I see no mention of the west, except for BC, well, I know BC is in the west, but, they are only part of the west. Did Decima include Toronto and forget Alberta, because you see, the two cancel each other out. And they talk about urban women, not rural women, why did they exclude rural women? Just asking.

So, one won't show their numbers, the next talks but has no numbers, and the third, forgets a few provinces, and rural women? Nice.

If the two parties are tied, as the polls show, why did the Liberals sit on their hands over 40 times? Why not a fall election? I love the fall, door knocking will be much more pleasant in the fall than the winter like last time. What's it going to be Dion? Here are his choices as I see them:

1. Sit on hands tell October 2009, then lose.
2. Wait for December, then maybe get booted as Liberal leader, then lose.
3. Force election in fall, then lose.
4. Call uncle, claim bankruptcy and step down, then lose.

Yikes it's not looking good for Dion!

Mr. Floatie Creates A Stink!

Global Warming, Increases Raw Sewage Pumped into the ocean!

Well there you have it folks, global warming causes more raw sewage to be dumped into the oceans! Now, let's not blame old useless sewage systems for this, nope, increased rain due to global warming is the cause.

Here's another malady the liberal bogeyman known as global warming is now predicted to cause: an increase in raw sewage being pumped into the ocean.

Honestly, at this point one has to wonder if much like writers for a daily comedy program there aren't teams of folks in offices around the world working 24 hours a day, seven days a week thinking up new bits of hysteria about climate change to scare the public.

Read the comments. Who can Victoria blame, not themselves I guess.

Canada Takes Crap for Flushing Raw Sewage into the Ocean
As B.C. Prepares for 2010 Olympics, Victoria Continues Sending Sewage to Sea

Victoria Proud of Pollution
According to many environmentalists, however, the worst offender in the Canadian landscape is Victoria, the picturesque provincial capital of British Columbia. Not only does Victoria pump its raw sewage directly into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, an arm of the Pacific Ocean, but city officials also claim they are doing the “right and responsible thing” for their community and the environment. They see no reason to change.

Not all of their constituents agree.

A group of activists called People Opposed to Outfall Pollution (POOP) has taken a lighthearted approach to a serious issue, poking fun at city officials with bathroom humor and using clever guerilla marketing tactics to focus a firestorm of embarrassing international media attention on Victoria’s toilet habits.

Mr. Floatie Creates a Stink Over Raw Sewage
One POOP member, James Skwarok, 35, dresses up as Mr. Floatie, a cheerful, man-sized piece of human excrement. His antics in the cause of ending outfall pollution have generated news stories as far away as South Africa.

So, now we know that global warming is to blame for all this raw sewage being dumped into our oceans, we don't have to take responsibility, like maybe upgrading our sewage systems. For once, could they just call raw sewage, pollution and clean it up, instead of bringing in the global warming poop.

I Am Conservative!

There, I said it! I feel better.

It's something I don't say often enough, to people I know. Even in Alberta, Conservatives are quiet. I have been in meetings where some Liberal has been spouting off about how wrong the provincial conservative government is on some issue, and I say nothing. Maybe that's why I blog, I can be the one spouting off, and you can listen or not, it's up to you the reader.

This is where the Liberals have an advantage, they proudly declare they are Liberals and therefore we should listen to them especially about Canadian values. We have been brainwashed for years with the Liberal agenda, we have been made to believe that Canada is a liberal country. That's just not true. Canada is a conservative country.

The true heart of Canada, is not the swingers clubs, the drug sites, greenhouse gas spewing environmentalists, the easy on crime liberals, we have been lead to believe. It's the loudmouthed Liberals/lefties telling us that, with the expert help of the media.

The true heart of Canada is our families and our land.

Environmentalists can praise Suzuki all they want, but they do nothing to actually help preserve the land, they don't plant trees in the summer, they are too busy protesting in some far off land I will never be rich enough to see. They are not there when a hurricane hits, they are too busy protesting in Washington. They do nothing, they serve only themselves and their own agendas. It's the Christian organizations helping in Africa, while environmentalists yell about stopping DDT, which could stop malaria cold, but can't be permitted because a bird egg might get harmed? They offer nets, anyone here been bit by a mosquito at anytime other then bedtime?

Feminists cry: "It's my body, my choice!" as they kill those little ones that would support them in their old age. They might have killed the only person in this world who would have loved them, without conditions. Yet, they want our children in day cares with unionized workers, not with their Mom or Dad. They do not want their own children, but they want ours.

Judges let sexual predators off with time served, or juveniles who kill someone get house arrest, this is the liberal way. Punish the victim, coddle the criminal. Is it any wonder that criminals voted for the Liberals in the last election?

Then we have terrorists, "Bring Khadr Home" they yell, he's a Canadian, he was only 15, the nasty Americans are not letting him sleep! Bullfrog. He's a terrorist.

I Am Conservative. I am not heartless like the Liberals want you to think. I donate more time and money to charity than any Liberal I know, I do it because I care.

I Am Conservative because to the roots of my soul, I believe in family, in community and in helping others. I'm sure that many people of all political persuasions feel that way as well. My question is, why aren't you a Conservative then?

How To Get An Election Called Early!

Okay, I knew that all political parties get $1.75 per each vote obtained after an election. What I didn't know is that it's not a one time payment after an election, it's an annual payment, made in quarterly installments. Here's the latest QUARTERLY installment:

Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Announces Second Quarter
Allowances Paid to Registered Political Parties

So, doing the math, if an election is held every 4 years, they would receive:

Bloq $12,133,606.24
Conservatives $41,982,242.72
Green $ 5,187,699.20
Liberals $34,993,189.92
NDP $20,229,927.52

That's a lot of taxpayer money. Oh, and they get an adjustment for inflation on top of that!

I see why they frame it as only $1.75 per vote. If the average Canadian, like me, understood how much it really amounts to per year, per party, I think there would be a huge stink! The Greens get $5 million and they don't even have an MP elected! No wonder the Liberals don't care about fund raising, they don't need to, not with $2 million coming in every three months, adding up to over 30 million in 4 years!

Here's how the Conservatives can get an election called....abolish this payment, make parties rely on fund raising. If they are rolling in the donations like we are told, they can afford to do without this "allowance"!! The other parties would never support that bill, so make it a confidence vote! Somehow, I don't think this will happen.

The Time Is Now......

Or maybe later. Don Martin from the National Post seems to think: No better time than now for the Liberals He might be right, for the Liberals, but not Dion. And last time I checked Dion was still the leader of the Liberal party, so what's it going to be?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's kickoff for his caucus retreat tonight is being advance-billed as The Dion Dare, a gauntlet he will throw down at Liberal leader Stéphane Dion's feet demanding he pull the parliamentary plug this fall or back away from his chronically empty election bluster until next year.

The Dion Dare? HA! It's the cat, playing with the rat. Conservatives are ready, it's the Liberal party that isn't. Now, I have to admit, being here in Conservative land, my view might be skewed, but we are ready to go and get our Conservative MP re-elected by over 60% again!

It's a government that seems eager to make itself very easy to defeat -- and the Official Opposition may find it very hard to resist the temptation to oblige.

Mr. Harper is expected to gloat at being handed the perfect campaign weapon with which to eviscerate the Liberals -- Mr. Dion's $15-billion carbon tax is a tough sell to an electorate that doesn't believe it will get it back, as promised, in tax rebates.

But as news of four-digit layoffs become a gloomy fixture in the headlines, and giant slabs of Arctic ice break free as an alleged result of man-made climate change, there's an alignment of economic and environmental circumstances coming together for the Liberals.

Here's where Martin gets it wrong, but don't tell the Liberals. The environment is going to take a huge beating in the next election, people only pay attention to it when the economy is good. Right now in Ontario, people are more interested in keeping their jobs than worrying about a harmless gas they can't even see. Martin should also check out the fact that Arctic ice is heavier this year and that giant slabs of Arctic ice always break off in the summer! Also believe it or not our cute little polar bears are doing just fine, eating all those baby seals!

The next Liberal gabfest is scheduled for December. That timetable squeezes Mr. Dion into a rock-hard predicament that gives his rivals considerable hope they will have him shoved out by next summer.

If he forces a fall vote, the convention will be pushed back to next spring, where he will likely be turfed by a party that will accept nothing less than a Prime Minister Dion as leadership success.

But if the campaign starts after the scheduled 2008 convention, Mr. Dion will have almost two years to rebuild a support base before his leadership is validated or revoked at the next biennial gathering of the Grits in late 2010.

The Liberals can not get rid of Dion at the December convention, they elected him, and they have no proof he would lose the election with the numbers showing the Conservatives and Liberals tied, so they are stuck with him. I suspect Liberal friendly pollsters are telling Canadians one thing (tie), and internal polls are telling a whole different story (Conservative win), but the Liberal media has now put the Liberals in a bind, they can't get rid of Dion!

That means Dion would be smart to wait until Oct 2009, by then people might have forgotten his green shaft. Only remaining question, how smart is Dion?? HA!

So, I Email The Premier About The AHRC...

And this is what I get. I'm actually not unhappy with the response, at least I got one. What I think needs to happen is more people emailing the Premier about the Alberta Human Rights Commission. It is clearly not on the Minister's radar, so email the Premier, let him know you are upset with the AHRC. It doesn't hurt, and if enough of us send emails, it will become an issue. Here is my email:

I am Alberta born and bred, I am a staunch Conservative supporter and I am of Ukrainian decent. I will NOT vote for your government again, unless you rein in your human rights commissions. They are nothing more than kangaroo courts with too much power and NO accountability.

The idea that "truth is not a defence" is so repugnant to me and my conservative values, that I can not support a party that actually sent a government lawyer to "convict" a pastor and make him renounce what he believes. What happened to freedom of religion? Free speech? This in Alberta, the land of the strong and free.

I live in a riding in Edmonton that only won by 50 some votes, it's a riding that could easily go Liberal again, and don't count on the fact that you and your party are safe for 4 more years. Next election, I will vote Wildrose Alliance if you do not stop the AHRC in it's tracks.

I do not like Liberal Lite, I want a government that stays out of my life, and lets me practice my religion without fear of the AHRC putting me through the wringer because I write a comment in a paper, like Rev. Boissoin did. I disagree with some of what he said, but I respect his right to say it. The HRC's are taking away my right to agree or disagree, can you not see it for the cancer it is? Do something or lose votes.

The response:

Dear :

The Honourable Ed Stelmach, Premier, forwarded your recent e-mail regarding the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission. As Minister of Culture and Community Spirit, responsible for the Commission, I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

Every Albertan has the right to live free from discrimination. The Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission has a two-fold mandate: to foster equality and reduce discrimination. It fulfills this mandate through public education initiatives and the resolution and settlement of complaints of discrimination.

If Albertans feel that their rights are not being respected, they can discuss their concerns with the Commission. The Commission is required to accept all complaints that fall within its jurisdiction. A large number of these complaints are resolved by meeting with the two parties and trying to mediate a solution. For others that can't be resolved, there is an established process in place to address the concerns raised that provides an opportunity for both parties to be heard.

The Albertans Human Rights and Citizenship Commission operates independently of government and its work is guided by the Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act. As an elected official, I do not become involved in the day-to-day activities of the Commission, nor do I comment on individual cases. The Act protects people from discrimination in a number of areas including publications and notices, employment, services and tenancy. Within these areas, Albertans are protected on grounds such as race, colour, ancestry, disability, gender and religious belief. The Act includes a variety of appeal provisions to ensure that the best decision is made in each case.

Government recognizes the importance of reviewing all legislation from time to time to ensure that it is meeting its intended purpose. We will be taking your views into account as we examine Alberta's human rights policies and legislative framework to ensure it supports all Albertans.

Thank you again for writing and sharing your ideas.
Sincerely,

Lindsay Blackett

Minister of Culture and Community Spirit

MLA, Calgary-North West

cc: Honourable Ed Stelmach, Premier

So, why send a government lawyer to help convict Pastor Boission? It's interesting because it was copied to the Premier. Showing that the Premier wanted a response. What is also interesting is that it mentions reviewing the legislation. That would be a start, and inviting me to help them would be even better. HA! Oh, why not, I'm a concerned born and bred Albertan!

All in all, I am semi-happy with the response, for now. If nothing gets done, if I do not hear about a review, I will email again, and again, and again. What I think Albertans can do is just what I did, email the Premier, he is obviously interested in what we have to say, and I like that. He's no Ralph Klein, but maybe that's a good thing, he appears to be listening, so talk to him. Send him an email. I was shaking when I sent mine, I thought it was too harsh, but it obviously served it's purpose.

Next time I don't want an obviously "scripted" response like I got, (hey, I'm not dumb) next time, I'm thinking about a meeting with Minister Blackett.

If each of my Alberta readers would send one email, just one, this issue might gain some steam. I know Conservatives are loath to cause a ruckus, but it's about Alberta "strong and free". It matters.

Not Easy Being Green!

Okay, I couldn't help comparing Dion to Kermit, I tried but I just couldn't help myself. Fife actually asked some hard questions and Dion, well, what can I say, he is either intellectually deficient, or not that smart. HA!!! Sorry, I'm bored because I don't have question period to play with anymore. Enjoy my version of Dion and his green shaft.

Lefties laugh at PM Harper for his clothes and weight (not something they can mention anymore, good job PM), maybe they should tell Dion that his mannerisms make him look like Kermit. The little head shake and pursed lips......well, sorry not working for this female. Do females base their vote on looks? NO! But, I will take this:

Over this:

Oops, wrong Dion, I meant this guy:

Dang, must be that glass of wine I had with supper, okay, I mean this guy:

Nothing against Dion, I think he's a "swell" guy, but his policies and politics stink. Plus, he has no lips, seriously, every photo shows Dion has no lips or chin, a sign of a weak person, so my Grandma told me! Thank goodness I listened to my Grandma!

So You Remember Obama's Basketball Shot?

Of course it was a photo op, but here is an email sent by an American soldier about his impressions of Obama's visit. I am blanking out his name, or anything that might identify him. Thanks to my American friend, who keeps me updated on what real Americans are thinking. She also provides me with most of my Friday funnies.

This comment from a US Marine, does not go along with what we saw on national liberal TV… S.
I Received this from someone who was in Afghanistan when Obama blew in. I've taken out all the forwards

Hi all FYI--for what freedom is worth.

T and J P are our friends who live in Virginia.

(Below is from T)

I don't know each of your personal political convictions, and apologize if anyone finds this offensive. I thought it was important enough to share.
This is J's first hand view of Senator Obama.

T

---------- Forwarded Message ----------
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along
that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his
visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights)
so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the
opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheer leaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,
CPT J P

This struck me because it is a first hand, behind the scenes, account of what we don't see from the media. Honesty.

To Taser, Or Not To Taser...

That is the question. Me, I'm fine with the taser, it's better than bullets. Personally, I'm never expecting to be in a situation where the police will have to taser me, but if it was a choice between being tasered or shot, I'll take my chances with the taser, thank you very much!

The latest lefty whine is about tasers and how they should be BANNED, big shock there! HA. They've banned guns, and smoking and drugs...oops, no, they like drugs. If some druggie, out of control on PCP or cocaine, comes at them with a knife, they should not use the taser, that's unfair to the knife wielding criminal. They might stun them long enough so the guy drops the knife and gets cuffed, end of threat.

What happens if they do ban the taser? Bullets, from real guns coming at the criminal, I can live with that, guess the lefties haven't thought about that, oh, who am I kidding, they don't think about real consequences, only their imaginary utopia.

Now we have this little article, from the CBC. Manitoba teen alleges police used Taser on her in jail cell

A Manitoba teen is alleging police officers stunned her with a Taser three times in a jail cell following her arrest by RCMP earlier that evening.

The girl, who was 16 when the alleged incident occurred in Selkirk last November, said four male officers held her down in a jail cell and shot her with a Taser three times.

Here's the problem, if four male officers were holding her down, and they tasered her, they all got tasered. Don't believe me, watch this...

So, little lady, maybe you should go back to the drawing board on that little item. What were you doing drunk at 16 and in jail? Where were your parents? Right, get back to me on that one.

For a great example of when to use a taser, watch this one. Much as I love dogs, when I was attacked by a pitbull (he was out of his yard, he bit at my leg, luckily I had baggy pants on, the owner saw what was happening and called him off), I would have loved to have a taser, or bear spray.

So go ahead you lefties, ban the taser, just remember that you are giving police one less non-lethal choice in their arsenal. And I thought you lefties were all about choice, guess not! It's like telling a woman to carry a whistle when she is getting raped, instead of bear spray.

To taser or not to taser? Taser those little sweethearts!

All In The Name Of The Children!

Further to my post about Edmonton and graffiti, comes this article in the National Post.

Turning Toronto into a nanny state

Toronto is a city that loves to make rules.

There are long-time restrictions on smoking, pesticide use, idling vehicles and beauty contestants flaunting their assets at Nathan Phillips Square.

There could soon be rules on the availability of bathrooms at big box stores, the amount of shade in city parks, the health content of vending machine snacks and the amount of organic or local produce that should be served to wards of city day cares and nursing homes.
....All in the name of the children.

"There's this mentality that people can't monitor their own behaviour so the city needs to do it for them and spend money to do it," said Karen Stintz, a midtown councillor who often finds herself at odds with her colleagues over whether to legislate or let common sense prevail.
....All in the name of the children.

Ms. Stintz tried in vain to stop "shade audits" being carried out this summer, arguing that once regulations are drafted to dictate the ratio of shade per person in parks it will require a bureaucracy to enforce them.
...All in the name of the children.

"Most nannyistic initiatives are framed around children, because if you can't protect children, who can you protect? That's why they get away with that kind of stuff," said Mr. Harsanyi. "No one wants to be the one to stand against the children and it makes it very difficult for them to vote against initiatives like that typically."
All in the name of the children.

It starts in the cities, we elect lefties as councilors, and then stand stunned when they bring in nanny laws that take away our individual freedoms. They always have good reasons behind the laws, protect the children, protect the elderly, protect...
So, they ban guns, ban smoking in public places, ban graffiti, ban, ban, ban.

These laws fail to protect, and do more harm than good. But, they are petty little disturbances to our lives, and don't affect most of us in our daily living, so we shrug and go on our way, we shouldn't.

These laws make people dependent on the government. They take away people's sense of personal responsibility for their own actions. All in the name of the children!

How often do we now hear, we must fight GHG's or our children and grand children will suffer? Lefties do everything in the name of the children, or our greater good (whatever the heck that means). We can all say we want a better world for our children, we can all agree with that, but as a parent, what about my responsibility to my children. I do not need a law to tell me how to parent, and for those "bad" parents, they ignore the laws anyways!

I do not want the government telling me how to raise my children. I do not want them telling me to put sunscreen on them, or not to smoke in the car when they are with me, or not to spank them or ground them. I do not need them to legislate a law to force me to do this, I have common sense, and most importantly, my children are my responsibility.

The Nanny State is getting out of hand, especially those who think that national daycare is best for everybody. Best for unionized workers maybe, but not for parents. Women want choice in abortion, but no choice in childcare, seems they want to get their hands on those that escape the abortion factories, so they can mold them to their own world views.

It starts small, with bylaws about parking and smoking in cars, and it continues on from there, with bans on guns, but not the drugs that make the guns necessary. No they want insite centers for people who use illegal drugs.

Before you know it, you wake up one day, and realize that slowly but surely your rights and responsibilities have been lost and that you are not free anymore, and it's....

All in the name of the children!!!

Friday Funnies: Pool Chick!

It was a beautiful day here, ate our first peas of the season, with baby carrots and new potatoes, and I only had to go all of thirty feet into my garden, not 100 miles. No CO2 was killed in this exercise, well except for the meat, juicy fall off the bone ribs. I was sitting back now with a glass of homemade red wine, no chemicals added, enjoying the cool evening air, then I remembered, Friday Funnies!!

The first is from a reader of my blog, who has sent me some good ones like this first joke, the rest are from my American friend!

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during
a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel
where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel
schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday,
with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the
hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to
his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her
husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following
a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and
friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and
saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
Date: October 16, 2007

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and
you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones.

I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been
prepared for your arrival tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as
mine was.

P.S Sure is freaking hot down here!

Subject: Italian Pregnancy

An 18 year old Italian girl tells her Mom that she has missed her period for 2 months. Very worried, the mother goes to the drugstore and buys a pregnancy kit. The test result shows that the girl is pregnant.

Shouting, cursing, crying, the mother says, 'who was the pig that did this to you? I want to know!'

The girl picks up telephone and makes a call. Half an hour later, a Ferrari stops in front of their house. A mature and distinguished man with grey hair and impeccably dressed in an Armani suit steps out of the of the Ferrari and enters the house. He sits in the living room with the father, mother, and the girl and tells them:

'Good morning, your daughter has informed me of the problem. I can't marry her because of my personal family situation but I'll take charge. I will pay all costs and provide for your daughter for the rest of her life

Additionally, if a girl is born, I will bequeath a Ferrari, 2 retail stores, a townhouse, a beachfront villa, and a $2,000,000 bank account.

If a boy is born, my legacy will be a couple of factories and a $4,000,000 bank account.

If twins, they will receive a factory and $2,000,000 each.

However, if there is a miscarriage, what do you suggest I do?'

At this point, the father, who had remained silent, places a hand firmly on the man's shoulder and tells him ....

"You a gonna try again."

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Look at the photo, this is being used in an article about the 3 by-elections being called. What's wrong with this picture? Look behind PM Harper, who's sitting there? Did the Canadian Press pick this photo intentionally? This picture is the only file photo they could find? This one is obviously from when Harper was the Opposition Leader, not even the PM.

They could have used a more recent picture, like this one:

If a lowly little blogger can find an up to date picture in about 5 seconds, why can't the Canadian Press or CNEWS? It sure stinks. Why print an old file photo with Chuck Cadman sitting behind the PM? It really, really stinks!

Ontario Whines, Alberta Quietly Pays!

Dalton whines about how hard done by the average Ontario taxpayer is, and that they deserve more because they give more than any other province in Canada. Well, I beg to differ. There is one quiet province that contributes more per capita than Ontario, they have also paid off all their debts. Now don't believe me, read this short little study, it's a little dated (2005) but it still gives a good picture of the history of equalization payments.

Notice how Alberta was giving way more in payments while the NEP was in force. Then, once our economy was killed, we slump along for awhile leaving Ontario to prop the country up, and then we get going again, and have been paying way more than Ontario for years! We also took a 20% hit to pay off our debt, the media never mentions that little fact.

What will Dion's carbon tax do? Same thing the first NEP did, kill Alberta and leave Ontario holding the bag. Problem is, Ontario is tanking and not able to prop up Canada again, so if Dion's carbon tax kills Alberta, who will step up to the plate? Quebec? HA!

Does the average Ontarian understand this? I think so. I have faith that lots of Canadians understand the Dion carbon tax. They understand it is about stealing from one part of the country to buy votes in another. Do they understand if they help to kill Alberta and Saskatchewan, that no other provinces are able to come to the rescue?

The federal government joins in with Ontario to help with infrastructure, are Ontarians happy?

Toby.
Long over due. Ontario has paid far more than it's share for many years and has been shut out by the Reform Party aka PC. I guess Harper is afraid there just might be an election this fall. This must be really bothering the Western Separatists.

I can only hope that "Toby" is not a good representation of what all Canadians feel.

Globe Morphs Another Story!

This time I didn't catch those little rascals changing stories, but they left the comments from a previous post about Dion wanting an election this fall. (If anyone finds the old story, post a link)

Dion touts tariffs on countries that are ‘free-riders'

Check out the 700+ comments, they are all about an election being called, not a tariff. The Globe pulls a fast one, changes the story, but keeps the comments from a previous article.

Dion muses about an election because his "green shaft" is going so well, the Globe prints it, then changes the story. Why did they change the story? Dion talks about a fall election, then suddenly the story is about a tariff? Talk about changing the channel when you don't like what you hear!

Meantime back at the ranch, Canoe asked this question, based on the same story the Globe had featured, "Do you want a federal election this fall?", the responses are very interesting. Start with first page (12 at this time would be the first), it will give you a true sense of how Canadians feel about an election in the fall. From the comments, it looks like about 98% do not want an election. Just a sample for those who are too lazy/busy to go to the site:

NO! and once again, Stephane Dion shows just how much he is out-of-touch with Canadians.
Tim Roberts, 2008-07-23 11:33:19

No. Prime Minister Harper is the best in many, many years!!
Inbred Fromlindsay, 2008-07-23 11:33:18

I'm with Buck, the sooner we get a tory majority the better.
Ed, 2008-07-23 11:32:56

Yes, Harper has done such a great job he should be given a majority
yogi, 2008-07-23 11:31:31

His he nuts? No way!
Bob, 2008-07-23 11:30:30

Canadians are ready for another election?? Seems to me that the liberals are still out of touch with popular sentiment. There's no way Dion or the liberal mafioso are getting my vote or that of anyone else I know. They did enough damage while they were office before. Why would we be stupid enough to set ourselves up for that again?
susanne, 2008-07-23 11:30:26

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I am happy with Mr. Harper, and can't STAND the sight of DION!! We haven't forgotten the MESS the Liberals left behind.....NO ,NO ,NO to and election this Fall and someone please tell Dion to quit having pipe dreams. When he was in AB, who did he talk to??? NOT voters, but university students....NO ELECTION & DEFINETELY NO DION!!!
E, 2008-07-23 11:24:57

Yes !! It's time for the Tory's to have a Majority Government !
Buck, 2008-07-23 11:22:48

dion is just desperate...desperate people do desperate things.

so my answer is NO!
k, 2008-07-23 11:20:41

You notice I didn't pick and choose, the ones I liked, I just copied some responses in a block, look at the times posted if you don't believe me. Read more of the comments, it's not pretty for Dion. Guess that's why the Globe tried to change the channel on their own site, the response to an election was anything but favorable to Dion. Slimy tactics by the Globe, make it seem that the tariff article is so popular it gets over 700 comments, when in actuality it was an article about Dion calling an election that generated all the comments.

Grow up Globe, you are supposed to be a paper that represents Canadians, not just Liberals. Make Liberal Gloria Galloway put a tag at the end of any article admitting that she is married to Liberal Dion's top Liberal adviser. Clean up your act, maybe then you might get some ad revenues coming in to save your paper.

Stupidity, This Is Stupidity!

Edmonton city council goes after the victims, not the criminals. No really, I'm not lying. I thought Toronto was bad with the new "shade" laws, but get a load of this piece of shi%t law.

Painted into a corner

Phyllis Bjornson, a 77-year-old Edmonton grandmother, has attempted to scrub the graffiti off of her garage over a dozen times, even taking a toothbrush to the stucco wall.

On July 10 she received a letter from the city stating she would have to get rid of the spray paint or face a $250 fine.

"I've been sick to my stomach I've been so riled up about this," she said. "I'm the victim and I pay the price. That doesn't make sense."

When Bjornson contacted the city about her predicament, she was told she would have to pay to have the building professionally repainted.

That's right, the victim has to pay for what some young thug did to her private property.

Coun. Tony Caterina said Bjornson's case exemplifies why he's against the ticketing.

"This was my biggest concern, that we were going to go out and ticket property owners," he said.

"Now not only do they have to pay for the damage, they have to pay to have it (cleaned). I hope at this point now we can do something for this senior."

The city is approaching the graffiti problem in a backwards manner, Bjornson adds. Instead of targeting the victims, they should be looking for the suspects.

"I'm upset more with the city (than the vandals) because that bylaw doesn't even look for the vandals," she said.

This is the city of Edmonton at it's finest! Why do only lefty idiots run for city council?

The Globe, Shining Star For The Liberals!

Media bias is not possible in Canada, nope, if you say it is, you are some nut, spewing conspiracy theories. Take for instance the Conservative party suing Elections Canada, this will be decided by the courts right? Wrong. This is going to be decided by the media, if fact, they have already convicted the Conservative party.

I took screen shots because the Globe has a habit of changing their headlines when people complain, or just disappearing whole articles into the wilderness, they don't delete them, just make them very, very hard to find on their online site. Let's start with the first article at the Globe and Mail, now very hard to find:

Quebec Tories swapped ad expenses, Elections Canada alleges

Quebec Tories swapped ad expenses, Elections Canada alleges

TIM NAUMETZ

The Canadian Press

July 22, 2008 at 9:26 AM EDT

OTTAWA — The Conservative Party shifted thousands of dollars in advertising expenses from two of its top Quebec candidates to other Quebec candidates who had more spending room in their 2006 federal election campaigns, the lawyer for Elections Canada has suggested.

This was the headline at 9:26 AM, now look at how the same story has morphed, under a Globe and Mail writer:

Tory ad scheme in Quebec was illegal, watchdog says

CAMPBELL CLARK

From Wednesday's Globe and Mail

July 22, 2008 at 10:35 PM EDT

OTTAWA — Four-fifths of the cost of the Conservatives' 2006 election-campaign advertising in Quebec was funnelled through local campaigns in a financing scheme that Elections Canada alleges was illegal, according to testimony provided in a court case.

Notice the first article was from the "Canadian Press", the second one from the "Globe and Mail". Notice also that the Globe says Wednesday, but the date is Tuesday, July 22nd. Let me print the screen shots of the headlines just encase they change before the morning.

I added a screen shot from the CBC just to show you what intellectual giants the MSM really are, they take one article by the "Canadian Press" and run with it, no originality, no sniffing out a story, just lazy, sloppy reporting. They take the story, change the headline, and presto, new story!

What really gets me is that the Globe writer uses this headline:

Tory ad scheme in Quebec was illegal, watchdog says

He doesn't allege it was illegal, he clearly states in the headline that it "was illegal". Oh, sure, in the first paragraph he uses the alleges word, but not in the title, talk about dirty reporting, tabloid style. That is what the Globe has become, a tabloid. The Conservatives have been tried and convicted by the Globe. Guess they are just helping their Liberal pals in the Ethics Committee. Funny how they failed to report on any of the Ethics Committees doings, especially this one.

The MSM, All Liberal, All The Time!

Why would any respectable paper print an article that calls our Prime Minister a racist? Have they no boundaries, no sense of what should be printed about the Prime Minister of our country? This lack of respect is scary, they are so caught up in their agenda against Conservatives that they will print anything they think will gain the Liberals some votes.

Frankly, it's disgusting and the MSM should take a step back and realize that they are doing more harm for their buddies the Liberals than good. They are also hurting our Canadian Muslims by showing support for one radical. Yet they are so consumed with hate for the Conservative government that they are willing to support statements by Mohamed Elmasry that have no validity, no facts. Let Elmasry speak, show him for what he is, but provide some balance in reporting.

I do not blame Elmasry, he is only the tool, it is the MSM that is prejudiced against the Conservative party. They are the true power behind the Liberals. Think about it, the Liberals can not take donations from companies anymore, but nothing is stopping the CBC, CTV and Global from printing Liberal friendly articles or TV segments. So, in essence, the Liberals are getting millions of dollars of free advertising every single day. Every article, every TV segment, like Question Period, gives the Liberals free media support.

There comes a time when people notice the bias, my Liberal parents have, will it help or hurt? Personally I think they have gone too far and it's starting to hurt. When you never see even one article that is positive towards the Prime Minister of our country, not one, you start to realize the magnitude of the problem. It makes me steam, maybe by next election it will make me boil over, but I wonder about all those advertisers the papers and TV stations need, should I support them with my money? What happens if we start emailing them and expressing our displeasure with the MSM, will they listen when their profits might be affected? Just asking.

Liberals Support Terrorists Again!

Well, we should all get behind former PM Martin on this one! Let's bring Khadr back to Canada, because.....??? beats me, but if Liberals want to support terrorists, who am I to stop them.

Bring back Khadr, former PM says
Former prime minister Paul Martin said Sunday that Canada should lobby to bring back Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr.

“I think Bill Graham, who was foreign affairs minister at the time, said it the best. Which was, ‘If we had known then what we know now, then we would have taken strenuous steps to repatriate Mr. Khadr to Canada,' Mr. Martin told CTV's Question Period in an interview broadcast Sunday.

The former prime minister conceded that it is “easy” to operate with the benefit of hindsight, but said, “We should have repatriated him, and I believe that we should do it now.”

Mr. Martin didn't specify Sunday what exactly he knows now that he didn't know before, but his remarks are consistent with those made by other members of the former Liberal government, including Mr. Graham.

Anne McLellan, Irwin Cotler and current Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion all now say either that they were unaware of the extent of the abuse allegations involving Mr. Khadr or that it is time he was tried in a Canadian court.

So it's a case of, if I was in power now, what I knew then...wouldn't matter! This video is from a source I normally wouldn't use, but it is a good example of why Khadr needs to be left where he is until the trial is over.

George even calls Khadr a "soldier", now that is an insult to all our men and women who serve our country. Personally, I have no problem with letting the US judicial system hold a trial to determine whether Khadr is guilty or innocent, but from that video it seems pretty conclusive. Oh, how the Khadr family must wish the Liberals were still in power, didn't they get Daddy Warmonger released from Pakistan? Now they want his little terrorist son home too?

Liberals, if they aren't marching with Hezbollah supporters (Coderre), or partying with Tamil Tigers (too numerous to list), they are crying for a terrorist to be brought home. Well, Annie get our guns, let him live with you, or maybe Martin can give him a job on one of his cocaine, not Canadian flag flying ships. Liberals buying the terrorist vote wherever they go!

Quick Blog , It's Late.

Just back from our yearly community BBQ, 30 people, great food, and to top it off, fireworks. Also we had our MP show up, stay and I hope have a good time.

James Rajotte is the Chairman of the Industry Committee, one of the only functioning committees going, so we were very proud to have him show up to our BBQ.

Just shows you our MP's are human and can connect with the everyday voter. Good job James, you made some new friends.

Now off to bed with me. Global warming had me shivering.

Bad, Bad, Alberta! Good, Good, Ontario!

I would say Alberta should separate, but the econuts would still be on our case. The National Post printed an excellent article by Premier Stelmach, that got ignored by all other Ontario media.

Alberta taking action on climate change

While others sit around a cap-and-trade poker table figuring out how to redistribute chips and gamble on Canada's economic future, Alberta is taking real action to make real reductions.

So, Alberta is taking real action, spending over 4 billion, but Ontario signs a vague agreement about maybe doing something, no money involved, and that's all we hear about. RAH RAH, out come the cheerleaders, the environmentalists, and the automotive workers...oops, maybe not the autoworkers, in celebration of how green McGutless is making Ontario. No mention of the lost refinery for Alberta gold in Ontario, no mention of how this will impact manufacturing, nothing. What can you expect from a province that re-elected McGutless because of not funding faith schools?

What is really funny is that the only agreement the provinces could come up with was to reduce CO2 by 20% in 2020! They are being hailed as ecofriendly now. Sounds familiar.....OH that's what PM Harper has been saying.

QUEBEC — The Harper government faced new pressure Friday to adopt a more aggressive climate-change plan after Canada's largest province threw its considerable political weight behind a North American initiative to tackle global warming.
.....

The Conservative government's plan to target industrial emitters is aimed at reducing Canada's emissions 20 per cent by 2020, but it uses 2006 as the starting point rather than the 1990 baseline used by the United Nations and the WCI. The Harper plan also does not include a cap-and-trade program.

Do they seriously think any Canadian cares about what year is used as the base year? If the Liberals had done anything except raise the CO2 levels 36% above the 1990 levels they might be believable. An econut from Suzuki says something and we should blindly believe it? Are we amoeba?

And here is the real agenda, this is central to all that we hear. This is NOT about the environment, this is a political agenda by the econuts.

Its addition gives increased leverage to the WCI and could reduce the political ability of energy-producing and heavy-polluting provinces such as Alberta and Saskatchewan to influence the political debate.

Could reduce the political ability.....kind of reminds me of the Dion Green Shaft, a wealth transfer that has nothing to do with the environment. There you have it folks, it's about political power, not the environment. Did you ever doubt it?

Friday Funnies: Dog Whisperer!

Thank to one of my regular readers for sending me some great jokes. Who says Conservatives have no sense of humour! I hear PM Harper is very funny, I've been looking for his performance for the Media Gala, haven't found it yet.
So, let's get started:

11 PEOPLE ON A ROPE

Eleven people were hanging on a rope, under a helicopter.

10 men and 1 woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all, so they decided that 1

had to leave, because otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person, Until the woman gave a very

touching speech.

She said that she would voluntarily......... let go of the rope,

Because, as a woman, she was used to giving up everything

for her husband and kids or for men in general,

And was used to always making sacrifices with little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech,

.........All the men started clapping ...!!!!!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
She asked...

A woman scanned the guests at a party and spotted an attractive man standing
alone. She approached him.

My name is Carmen, she told him.

That's a beautiful name, he replied. Is it a family name?

No, she replied. I gave it to myself. It reflects the things I like most --
cars and men.

What's your name? she asked.

He said, B. J. Titsengolf

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, the dog whisperer:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enjoy your Friday, have some beers before the price increases too much!

Something Has To Be Done About This!

BEER. Way back in March, I wrote a blog post about beer, I told people to stock up on beer, because you could expect the price of beer to go up. Did anyone listen? I suspect those that did have already drank down their supply using the excuse that beer has a short shelf life.

The media has finally reported on this very important problem.

"Hops have more than doubled over the last year, and I haven't seen increases like that in my 25 years. And malted barley, which is the biggest component of beer, has more than doubled as well so we've got everything coming at us in all directions," Jim Brickman of the Kitchener, Ont.-based Brick Brewing Company, told CTV's Canada AM.

That, combined with slower than expected sales in May and June, means a perfect storm may be brewing for higher prices.

I don't mean to depress you on a Friday, just as you are leaving work to go for a cold one, but it's coming to a beer store near you. Luckily I have five gallons of homemade raspberry wine brewing right now, the raspberries are from my backyard so the only expense is the sugar, and yes, expect that to go up in price too!

You might not care about global warming (I'm wearing a sweater today), or the price of gas (which went down to 130.9 at the pump today) but beer, you really should care about the price of beer. I had a graph in one of my posts that correlated rising global temperature with the increase in beer consumption. If the price of beer increases so that consumption drops, expect lower temperatures to follow.

Something has to be done about this disaster!

Liberals Being Ethical!

Not sure why my last post didn't get through on Blogging Tories, but I spent all day getting these videos done and on Youtube, so I will try again.

Here's a summary, day one of the Ethics Committee, Elections Canada is on the hot seat and the Conservatives are scoring points, left, right and center. This is not what the opposition parties expected, they are caught with their pantyhose around their ankles.

See this post for the related videos!

Working into the wee hours of the morning, the opposition develops a plan for day two.

1. Mayrand obviously contacts Committee Chair Liberal MP Szabo and complains about the abuse he got at the hands of the Conservatives. He takes the "fifth". Everything is now related to his appearance before a real court on real charges, and he has just realized that. It appears the Liberal Chair couldn't protect him from his own lack of evidence against the Conservative questions. So, Liberal Szabo tells all committee members they can not ask any questions related to the current court proceeding. Hello, didn't you think of that BEFORE you asked the witness to appear? Szabo is clearly incompetent. See video one.

2. Because Conservative members are clearly still gaining ground and showing Canadians that ALL parties do the same things, and that Mayrand has 5 made up "facts" that are ridiculous, the opposition, led this time by NDP Martin, call a motion to limit questions to Mayrand. They want to shut it down after the current round, the Conservatives still have questions and want 8 more rounds. The Conservative motion is defeated, the opposition motion passes (they have the majority vote). Say bye-bye to Mayrand, no more questions for Elections Canada. Disgusting behaviour by the opposition. See video two.

3. If that isn't enough, the list of potential witnesses is presented, and the first thing Szabo does is strick every single Conservative witness from the list, oh, he forgets one, but ever helpful NDP Martin adds that name to the list, so they are good to go. Liberal Jennings calls non-confidence on the Liberal Chair, which means all discussion is stopped and a vote must take place, then she changes her vote, so that the dirty unprincipled Liberals get to strike every single Conservative witness off the list!!! This was totally planned because Jennings for an earlier motion called non-confidence and was told to "pay attention", she obviously had the wrong motion, and her motion was all of a sudden, ignored by "rule" abiding Szabo.

The final icing on the cake, or puffin poop exposing, was when Jennings called for the end of the session before Conservative MP Scott Reid's motion for an independent inquiry into Elections Canada could be voted on. That's why you hear him yelling at Szabo in the third video.

All in all, it was a disgusting display of how the opposition parties have been operating in just about every committee in Parliament for the last two and a half years. Canadians watching no matter what political stripe had to be disgusted with how the Conservatives were trampled on by the opposition parties. They showed their devious little lefty minds, and it was ugly, but lefties will tell you it was democratic HA.

Ethics? You Call This Ethical?

Day two was by far the busiest for the opposition parties. Szabo starts things off by allowing Mayrand to take what in essence would be like the fifth amendment. Then the opposition parties shut down any questioning of Mayrand, and finally, using dirty tactics they manage to get rid of all the witnesses that the Conservative party put forward. If you only watch one video, make it the last one, it's full of true Liberal ethics, which means of course, none.

This video shows Szabo letting Mayrand take the "fifth".

Then next, we have all members of the opposition shutting down questioning of Mayrand.

Finally, and the most important one to watch, the Liberals play dirty. At the end of the tape, you can hear the Conservatives yelling at Szabo. Personally, I don't know how they held their tempers that long!

Enjoy!

As The Stomach Turns Part One!

I just go through watching today's (Wednesdays) ethics committee meeting, it was disgusting, I will post some video's of it tomorrow, but tonight I have some unedited video of the Conservative members questioning Marc Mayrand on Tuesday. Take some time and watch them, I have provided no comments on the video, you decide.

That's the start of the proceedings, Mayrand looks bad, and has no real reason for only picking on the Conservatives. Then on Wednesday it's a whole different story. Suddenly he clams up due to the lawsuit, and Szabo let's him. Then ALL of the people that the Conservatives wanted put on the list are rejected, every single one. It's just about 2:30 here, so videos will have to wait until tomorrow.

To get prepared for what's coming, read Kady O'Malley, for a really disgusting, childish view of the proceedings. She should just sit there and do her nails for all the actual true commentary you get from her. How old is she? 12? This is a supposed reporter, but she comes across as babyish, and ohhh aren't we worried that you only got ice cream to eat for lunch, and that your thumbs hurt.

Oh, it was apparently suspended until *2:15*! Next time, I’ll have to listen more carefully, rather than burying my head in my hands and praying for a swift death. I missed out on fifteen minutes of thumb relaxation time.

Is this woman really that interested in herself and her problem thumbs, or is she just shi*tless?

Marlene Jennings is ready to call the vote on Pat Martin’s motion, but we’re now deep into grumbliness. As it turns out, the chair’s ruling removed the names of every one of the Conservatives’ proposed witnesses, which - not surprisingly - is not going over at all well.

Oh really dippy, grumpliness? That's not a word, but don't let that little item get in your way. Do adults really read her shi*t?

I have never seen a better reason to give the Conservatives a majority. The lefties were out of control today, talk about undemocratic, Szabo is sickening. I used to have some respect for NDP MP Pat Martin, no more. If the opposition parties think they came off well today, they should join Kady when she decides to do her toenails, they can all watch the painted nails dry.

As the stomach turns, part two... get ready for it tomorrow, it's not pretty.

Conservative Women Rule!

We keep on hearing about how women don't like the Conservatives, so, let me clue you in. The best Canadian blogger, Kate at Small Dead Animals, just happens to be a Conservative woman. Joanne, at Blue Like You, just happens to be a Conservative woman blogger. Then we have Sandy at Crux of the Matter, and NB Tory Lady, and the Girl in Blue, Joan Tintor, Five feet of fury, Conservative Queen, and many others. You can add to the list in comments, I'm sorry if I've missed anyone, but I suspect they can handle it, being Conservative women.

So, what is a Conservative woman? Glad you asked.

A few months ago I took my 15 year old son to hear PM Harper speak. We were waiting for him to make his appearance and a little old lady with a walker was waiting too. I started talking to her, she was amazing. While her husband was working, she found a house and bought it. This lady was no shrinking violet. She did what was needed, and never looked back. She is a perfect example of how our country was born. Tough women.

We constantly hear that the Conservatives lack the female vote, and I agree. We do lack the female vote, but we also lack the vote of wet noodles. Strong women will identify with the Conservatives, wet noodles will vote for any lefty party that promises them eternal welfare. They don't care that their children will suffer, they have no self respect, and can't cope with life.

Conservative women are not wet noodles, they are charming but direct. They are tough until you talk about their children, then they are mush. They have their heads on straight, they know that global warming is BS. Conservative women help real people in real need, they don't write a paper about it. They get their hands "dirty".

Conservative women are straight shooting, no nonsense women who don't just talk about something, they DO it. I am proud to be identified as a Conservative woman, I have never lost a fight (Okay I've never actually been in one!), I have never backed down from a problem, and I rule my house by gentle persuasion not fear. But I do rule.

Conservative women, take a bow.

Now can we stop with the male/female thingy?

In My House, You Take Your Shoes Off!

Today, Blue Like You posted about why people visit blogs. I had blogged about why blogs are winning over the MSM this weekend. What I have been wrestling with this weekend and especially today, is that some anonymous posters make me cringe when I read their posts. I don't want to go to my own blog and feel upset when reading some of the comments, but I don't want to stop freedom of speech either. So, should I stop allowing anonymous posters?

I hate to do that because some anons are very articulate and offer great insight into the posts. Most commentators respect my one rule about swearing, so I have no problem with them, and I like hearing other points of view.

When you look at it, I am anonymous too, all you know about me is that my name is "Hunter", I'm female and I live in Edmonton, so how can I ban anonymous posts? That would be hypocritical, because I am anonymous myself. Except...

It's my blog and I have a measure of control over what comments I allow. I blogged in the wilderness for years before getting on the Blogging Tories "front page", but now that I have "made it", new problems arise.

I want to keep this blog about everyday issues that are important to me and my family, I want to appeal to every person just like me, trying to raise a family without getting into too much debt, I want to make people understand why I support the Conservatives, and I hope I can occasionally make you smile with my Friday Funnies, but most of all, I hope you can connect with me, as a fellow Canadian, as a mother, and as someone who cares about our country, and the direction it is heading.

Today, I deleted some comments from an anonymous poster because they upset me, that is not what freedom of speech is about, I should have left them up, but I couldn't, they disturbed me, and made me sad at the same time. Sad that someone hates the Conservatives so bad that they are blinded by that hate.

So, in my house, you take your shoes off, my blog is like my house, so, can I boot a rowdy poster out of my house, if they refuse to remove their shoes? You tell me.

The BBQ Days Of Summer!

It's interesting how well what this article by Paul Wells says is PM Harper's strategy and this article match up.

Here's some of the main points:

Wells article:
For our purposes today it is better to understand the Harper coalition, not as a matter of geography (Quebec nationalists, Western reformers) but of demographics. Harper appeals, and plans to keep appealing, to middle-class and working-class employees, tradesmen, parents of small children, entrepreneurs, and military families and their supporters. People who believe they pay more to Ottawa than they are used to getting from it, whether in money, programs or respect. Harper and a few lieutenants — his strategic chief Patrick Muttart, his underappreciated junior minister Jason Kenney — have been thinking about and planning how to cement that coalition still further, and encourage its judicious growth at the margin.

CTV article:
Harper reiterated Conservative criticisms that the Liberal plan would simply shift tax dollars out of Canadians' pockets back into federal government coffers, boosting the cost of just about everything.

"It will stop the economic progress of the Canadian middle class dead in its tracks and it will make the cost of living unbearable for fixed income seniors and low-income seniors."

So PM Harper is solidifying his base support, the middle-class. He's a Tim Horton's kind of guy, one the average person can relate to. Having pictures of him with his young family doesn't hurt his image either.

Wells article:
But could Harper survive another failure to win a majority? Oh, probably. It's now 20 years since a Conservative leader won a majority. The interim has been humiliating for all concerned. There isn't a Conservative MP elected before 2004 who doesn't remember internal feuds, funereal caucus meetings, days when poll scores in the mid-teens felt like a breakthrough. Pundits are glib about those days, but Conservatives feel them in their bones. If Harper keeps his party in power by the slimmest of margins, they will not be inclined to punish him.

I have to agree that PM Harper will not be punished if the Conservatives win another minority, they will still be the government, and he will still be the Prime Minister, why would we change a good thing?

But in America in the 1960s as in Canada today, for a significant chunk of the electorate "the new hated elite . . . was cultural — the 'toryhood of change,' condescending and self-serving liberals 'who make their money out of plans, ideas, communications, social upheaval, happenings, excitement,' at the psychic expense of 'the great, ordinary, Lawrence Welkish mass of Americans from Maine to Hawaii.' "

The Liberal elites, all those special interest groups run by lefties, are suffering. Their bridge to power has been broken, and they cry through the MSM about their pet projects that the government won't fund any more, never understanding that the Conservative government is about getting REAL results, not just some paper written about woman's issues.

CTV article:
The prime minister told the crowd that his minority government intends to deal with the "escalating problem of violent youth crime" when Parliament resumes in the fall.

"We must send a message - and we will - that we hold young lawbreakers responsible for their behaviour. That is what we intend to do this coming session."

Law and order is a middle class issue. Parents with young children care about this issue. It is also an issue the appeals to his base. The nice thing is that it appeals to people of all political stripes, not like Dion's green shaft which appeals mainly to Toronto elites.

Harper finished his speech by saying he has never felt more hopeful about his party, having broken the Liberal lock on power and demonstrated that there's a better way to govern Canada.

But he warned supporters that his Conservative minority government could face another election "at any time."

Having broken the Liberal lock on power was a major breakthrough, people now have seen what the Conservative party can do in government, and they are liking what they see. Internationally PM Harper is listened to and respected. He has repaired US/Canada relations, and he has stood up strongly as a friend of Israel. He has supported our troops with more than talk, he has acted. The country is more united now than I can ever remember it being. The Liberal elites don't like it, but the average middle class voter sure does.

Straight Talk!

Dr Roy pointed me to this speech by David Cameron, it's worth reading.

What I want to know is, will Britain listen? Or are they lost? Because I know most of you will not click and read the whole article, here are some of the best parts:

"With over five million people in our country on out of work benefits, many of them on Incapacity Benefit, welfare dependency is now a crisis for the whole country, not just this corner of it.....

"A sixteen year-old boy stabbed in north London; a sixty year-old man sitting around in Easterhouse who's never had a job. A twenty-eight year-old woman stabbed in south London; a forty-eight year old woman dying from heart disease in Gallowgate.

"The thread that links it all together passes, yes, through family breakdown, welfare dependency, debt, drugs, poverty, poor policing, inadequate housing, and failing schools but it is a thread that goes deeper, as we see a society that is in danger of losing its sense of personal responsibility, social responsibility, common decency and, yes, even public morality....

"Imagine if there was a Government that understood, really understood, that encouraging personal and social responsibility must be the cornerstone of everything that it did and that every move it took re-inforced that view....

"Above all, I believe that this cultural change needs to start at home. The values we need to repair our broken society and to build a strong society are values that should be taught in the home, in the family.

"That is why I have put the family right at the heart of my programme. Action on knife crime. Better policing and criminal justice reform. Reforming schools. Reforming welfare. These are all vital components of the social reform we need so urgently.

"But in the end, the state cannot do it all. In the end, the best regulation is self-regulation, not state regulation. That's why the family comes first. That's where we can really turn things around and start to repair our broken society.

Clearly Cameron deserves to be elected. He is very direct about the problems facing Britain, it's time for change, not the limp wristed type of change Obama is talking about, real change, where families matter again. Maybe someone should send this speech to McCain and PM Harper, because common sense makes sense.

A Special Day!

Today, my husband and I celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. I am still as much in love with him today as I was 23 years ago, but it's a love that has changed as we have changed. It is deeper and more enduring today, than it was when we first got married.

The first bloom of love, that heart stopping infatuation with each other, has changed into a solid companionship, a joining of two hearts into one. We have become a true team, building a family life that gives us all respect and trust. Family is the building block on which society is built. A strong family means as strong country.

Commitment is not easy, there are many bumps along the road, but if you do not try, if you give up because it's not what you expected, you are taking the easy and selfish way in solving problems. This is only a "me" generation because the fabric of the family has come under attack. Divorce is too easy, and Hollywood makes it look normal, it shouldn't be, not unless it is an abusive relationship.

Millions of people commit to each other and stay committed. They work out the bumps, and stand together against any threat to their families. They are the backbone of this country. Think back to the pioneers, they had only each other to rely on, and the communities they lived in worked together to help all people. That is what has made our country great, people committed to building safe communities.

To my husband, on this special day. I love you dear, may we have many, many more anniversaries together. May we face the bumps in the road with strong hearts, and stand together to give our boys the moral values they will need to grow up as young adults who take responsibility for their lives and actions.

Now, dear, you have the laundry to do, and the dill in our garden needs to be thinned out. Life is good! Another interesting day is going to be my birthday, the 08/08/08, going to buy a lotto ticket that day for sure! This little guy helped make the day even more special, he's raiding the bird feeder.

Newspapers Can't Do That!

It seems that Blogging Tories has run into a glitch, the agitator hasn't been updated for over a day. It's frustrating because I go there first to see what's been happening. So, one day without any updates, and I found that people were going back to some of my old posts and adding comments. It's like they were forced to go back and consider an issue. So, why are blogs winning?

I think blogs are winning because they give everyone a fair opportunity to respond to a post. My most successful posts are not ones quoting from a newspaper story, they are the ones that comment on an issue that touches all of us in our everyday lives. Newspapers can't do that. Blogs can focus on one issue and hammer their point home. Newspapers can't do that.

Blogs are free to read, and free to comment on. You don't need to email an editor, and then hope they publish your point of view. With a blog your comment can be published instantaneously. Blogs have no overhead, they pay no one wages, they have no capital investments like buildings, to worry about.

Blogs are winning because they allow the average Canadian a voice. Anyone with a computer can have a blog. Newspapers can't do that.

Blogs are not going to disappear anytime soon, they serve a purpose that newspapers can't, they give a voice to everyday Canadians about everyday issues. Newspapers can't do that.

Dogs Are Awesome!

You must know by now that I love dogs, my autism-to-be dog Sadie, is snoring at my feet right now, and I'm working on my husband to rescue 2 greyhounds before the October slaughter. So, I love this heartwarming story!

CTV.ca News Staff

A B.C. canine is back at home this weekend after a weeks-long solo adventure that took him from Whistler, B.C., all the way to suburban Vancouver.

Callaghan is a friendly Labrador retriever who became lost and separated from his owner in Whistler. Somehow he ended up on a highway in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey, a distance of more than 150 kilometres away from his home.

Watch the video here.

Quite the trip this dog had, how he made it that far will forever be a mystery. But, I do love a happy ending!

Dogs are awesome! Now, if we could only work on humans....
